Onward Christian Soldier

Onward Christian Soldier

Romans 8:37-39 (NLT) No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Onward, Christian soldiers! Marching as to war, with the Cross of Jesus going on before. Christ, the Royal Master, leads against the foe; forward into battle, see His Banners go! (Onward Christian Soldiers, Sabine Baring-Gould, 1865)

There always seems to be the one situation that seems overwhelming. No matter how many times you pray, cry out to the Lord or try to move on – it keeps coming up. I have one of those “things” in my life. It doesn’t matter how many times I shake the dust off my feet it comes back like a monkey slinging mud or worse at the zoo. The longer it takes for resolution the more blinding the doubt that keeps shouting things will never change. Is there anything too big for God? Lord, help my unbelief today.

I have fought many battles since coming to Christ. Each one strengthening my confidence in the Lord and His Promises. But everyone has a Jezebel who in the midst of celebrating a win comes with the ultimate threat that leaves even the strongest reeling and reaching for support. I am embarrassed to admit that even in my conversations with the Lord – I am perplexed wondering if this one may be too strong for us. Is this giant too big to bring down with a single stone? Is this roaring lion to be the one that destroys someone? How silly right? The Word of the Lord for our life is “despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ…” What are all these things?

Romans 8:35-36 (NLT) Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”)

Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s Love? Of course, not. However, until I decide for myself that He lives in me, is always for me, loves unfailingly, always looking out for my good, and fights for me, my faith is wavering and belief not rock solid. When wrong gets its way and things are not “right” the waiting for the win seems like it is taking forever. For those who know God’s Word for their life continually seeking His Way it may seem even more unjust as the trial is endured and the test engaged in, but overwhelming victory belongs to the confident. The person who continually remains steadfast as the Lord works out the Plan of Victory His Way and in His Timing. In the meantime, He works on our heart. There is always more of ourselves to yield to the Lord and His Spirit.

Onward Christian Soldier, we must march as unto war. Each day the battle rages within us to give up on this new life in Christ that is so drastically different than the world lives. To continually turn over the real estate of our reality to firmly establish our faith and confident hope in Christ alone. The more it is attempted the more people will let you down. The church is an imperfect mass of people being formed and fashioned into one. It is a process that takes a lifetime. The battle within us to do right when everyone else is doing wrong. To stay firm in our own convictions and not sucking the weak and helpless into our rules and regulations. To remain steadfast in our seeking even on the narrow road. To let the higher thoughts and grander thinking of God our Father be our knowledge and understanding rather than trying to figure everything out. Overwhelming victory is not produced by my hands, my head or even my heart. It belongs to Christ alone. To inhabit His Presence and let His Spirit permeate me leads me to victory day by day basking in His Love and thriving on His Grace.

I Corinthians 15:57-58 (NLT) But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.

Though it was a torrential downpour outside, my heart was excited to be at church ready to worship. I walked into the classroom for a quick good morning before service began. Cold, dead stares. Was I really begin shunned? Shock and dismayed – I tried to break through the ice. Like a huge iceberg floating in the Bering Sea, it was clear this would not thaw anytime soon. Why? My dear brothers and sisters be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically…for the Lord. It is so hard to remember sometimes that my life is not my own. Everything I do or say has potential in Jesus Christ no matter how it is received or even rejected. Nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless. What are you bumping up against today? Have you been met with opposition? There is no need to fight back the battle is already won. Perfect love drives out all fear and doubt while fulfilling our expectation so we do not need the affirmation, acceptance or approval of people therefore in every season and situation – we walk in love because God’s Love for us is perfect and perfecting.

At the sign of triumph satan’s host doth flee; on, then, Christian soldiers, on to victory. Hell’s foundations quiver at the shout of praise; brothers, lift your voices, loud your anthems raise. Onward, Christian soldiers! Marching as to war, with the cross of Jesus going on before. Like a mighty army moves the Church of God; brothers, we are treading where the Saints have trod. We are not divided; all one body we: one in hope and doctrine, one in charity.

Colossians 2:14-15 (NLT) He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.

The enemy cannot take our victory. When Jesus canceled the record of charges against me by nailing them to the Cross – I became victorious. The only way that I can ever lose in life is to give up the grace that I have been give. When I decide another way is better, or that I cannot win so choose to walk away – it is in that moment I hand over my win to the liar. I exchange the Truth about my life for the lie of the enemy. Are you being taunted today? Tempted to give up? Every spiritual ruler and authority has no power over you. Christ disarmed them. He publicly shamed them all by His Victory over sin, death and the grave. He triumphantly arose and gave it all to you and me.

I John 4:4 (NLT) But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.

We are not divided; all one body we: one in hope and doctrine, one in charity…these words are an inspiration for the church even today. The Spirit who live in you and me is greater than the enemy who lives in the world. Do you believe that today? Your victory is secure in Christ. It is not a narrow win but an overwhelming triumph. Are you immovable in your faith? Are you unshakeable in confident hope? Faith and hope are the prevailing factors that lead us from victory to victory. To believe with all our body, mind, heart, soul and spirit of God’s Unfailing Love, Amazing Grace, Constant Goodness, and that He is always for us. These are the things that allow us to walk in victory. The enemy has been defeated. Stop letting him defeat you with doubt, fear, anxiety, worry and stress. Overwhelming victory belongs to us simply because Christ loves us.

I John 5:3-5 (NLT) Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome. For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith. And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God.

Every Child of God defeats evil achieving victory through our faith. Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Son of God who came to set us free can walk in victory daily. Not just in spiritual battles but just living ordinary life. The only way to lose is to forfeit your faith and allow fear to take away what God has already given you through the Sacrifice of His Son – Jesus. We are destined to win. Victory is in the Blood that now flows in us. There are two halves in basketball, four quarters in football, and nine innings in baseball. No athlete whose heart is set on winning gives up before the final buzzer – why are you giving up now? God makes everything beautiful in His Time not ours. We must wait for the masterpiece to be completed or it is just another pretty picture worth only as much as what it is made of. Stop comparing your life to others. Decide you will have all Christ died for you to have today in spite of other people and their opinions. There is a reason the narrow road is called less traveled. Lean not on your own understanding and follow Jesus. Let His Truth be your roadmap to victory today. Let His Spirit show you how to win!

Onward, then, ye people; join our happy throng. Blend with ours your voices in the triumph song: Glory, laud, and honor unto Christ, the King. This through countless ages men and angels sing.

I Corinthians 9:25-27 (NLT) All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.

Are You Listening?

Are You Listening

Proverbs 8:32-35 (NIV) “Now then, my children, listen to me; blessed are those who keep my ways. Listen to my instruction and be wise; do not disregard it. Blessed are those who listen to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway. For those who find me find life and receive favor from the Lord.

My husband and I were having a normal conversation on an ordinary day. He kept saying, “What?” I would repeat the previous statement. This continued until I insisted on a visit to the doctor and hearing test concerned that he may have hearing issue. He laughed and said, “Or at least they can tell me if it is selective hearing loss!” Oh my goodness! Always the jokester. I read on social media recently that a husband told his wife that scientists have found that men say about 10,000 words a day while women say about 20,000. His wife shouts back from the kitchen, “It’s because we have to repeat everything twice to you blockheads.” The husband responds, “What?” And there you have it, what science deems a response to “higher level of protein” is really just a need to be heard…

Psalm 50 tells us that “the Mighty One, God, the Lord, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to where it sets.” Who is He speaking to? You. Me. All of us. God still speaks today. Whispering to those He calls beloved in an effort to illicit a response and release the instruction that leads to abundance in all things as God has ordained and predestined for us. Are you listening? Am I listening? When we hear His Voice is it easily recognized and discerned from all the other influences in our life? The Lord has called the listeners “blessed”. Those who watch and wait at His Doorway. Those who do will find life everlasting and overflowing with His Abundance.

Psalm 78:1-3 (NIV) My people, hear my teaching; listen to the words of my mouth. I will open my mouth with a parable; I will utter hidden things, things from of old—things we have heard and known, things our ancestors have told us.

God speaks to us. The truth is that He speaks to us every day from the rising of the sun until it sets. God is encouraging us, teaching us, leading us, and guiding us to better things by better ways. We choose the voice who guides us each day. However, His Thoughts are not my (natural) thoughts and inclinations. (Isaiah 55:8) His Ways are not my instinctual ways, attitude or actions but much higher altogether. God leads us to the narrow road less followed and the higher way not always perceived in our humanity. There are two keys things necessary to discern God’s Voice from the other influences.

John 14:26 (NIV)  But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

We absolutely need the Holy Spirit to discern the Voice of God. The Advocate who weighs earthly logic and Heavenly Knowledge to give us the upper hand. Faith is not logical in our present state of mind. It is only by continually allowing His Spirit to mold and shape us that we adopt the mindset of Christ that allows us to follow through with His Actions.

Matthew 4:4 (NIV) Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

The Word of God is essential. If I may paint a picture, the Holy Spirit lives in you and me. He is the advocate and our personal warrior who enables us to overcome the enemy. The only weapon the enemy can use against us is the lie. The Shield of Faith protects us from those fiery darts. The Word of God is the sword of the Spirit that cuts to the Truth. When you know the Truth, you will not accept the lie. Matthew 4:4 is the response of Jesus to the lie of the enemy. What is yours?

I have been to many churches and found them all unique. There are churches that emphasis the Holy Spirit and spiritual gifts. However, the Word is often overlooked. I grew up in a Bible-based church that focused solely on studying scripture and silenced the Holy Spirit. The church I believe that will be the “remnant” church of the end times will worship in Spirit and Truth just as Jesus tells the woman at the well in the Book of John. We must be filled by the Spirit and the Word in order to rightly divide the Truth from the lie even in our churches and small groups.

Proverbs 1:20-23 (NIV) Out in the open wisdom calls aloud, she raises her voice in the public square; on top of the wall she cries out, at the city gate she makes her speech: “How long will you who are simple love your simple ways? How long will mockers delight in mockery and fools hate knowledge? Repent at my rebuke! Then I will pour out my thoughts to you, I will make known to you my teachings.

The Lord is relentless in His Pursuit of us. Psalm 23 tells us that His Goodness and Unfailing Love follow us all the days of our lives. God desires us to dwell in His Presence. He wants to communicate with us. Commune with us. He lives inside of us as a holy consummation of the covenant of love that He has made with us. He wants to pour His Thoughts in us so we will overcome the lie of the enemy and stop living in lack. Lack comes in many forms. It is not a material or monetary term. The Fruit of God’s Spirit grows in the vacated spaces occupied by substitutions and compromise. As our soul prospers in Spirit and Truth, so will we. We must be listening for God’s Voice in every moment of every day to have all that He has promised and ordained to bless us with in this life leading to eternity.

I Kings 19:11-13 (NIV) The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.” Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. Then a voice said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

Elijah left Mount Carmel victorious over the prophets of Baal. God accepted his sacrifice proving their religion a farce and 450 were killed that day. Jezebel was infuriated and in her rage leveled a death threat against God’s Man, Elijah. He fled to a cave high atop a mountain. It’s funny how easy a lie can ensnare us. Just when everything seemed to be going so well, and then our feet get tangled in a half-truth or subtle suggestion. The enemy of our soul knows the Word of God personally. Jesus is the Word of God. He saw satan fall from Heaven. Who better to twist and taint the Truth but one who knows it intimately inside and out? With this in mind, the best defense is a good offense. You can prepare for the lie of the enemy by engaging in the Truth. Faith is credible and logical when rooted and grounded in the Word of God.

God did not yell at His Servant or berate him for falling for the oldest trick in the Book. No, he came to him in a gentle whisper and called him by name. “What are you doing here, Elijah?” God is intent on the one. He will leave the 99 just to find you in the midst of delays, detours or distractions. He understands our vulnerability when it comes to believing the lie. He has empowered us to overcome yet in our weakness – His Grace is always enough.

Have you fallen for the lie of the enemy? Have you stopped listening? There is a difference between ignoring God and ignorance. If you know the Word and are filled by the Spirit and choose to do what you want to do – there is a sin problem in your heart today. Repent and let Him lead to the better way. The problem is most likely fostered by a faith plagued by fear, doubt and insecurity creating disbelief. He is not mad at you but still insists on communicating His Love to you one-on-one.

If you have never heard the Voice of God, you are in for a real treat. There is nothing more relevant in your life than to hear the Words of the One who created you. Your Father in Heaven who loves you perfectly and completely. When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Word of God hidden in our heart begins to cut through the lie to expose the Truth. The Holy Spirit holds firmly the Shield of Faith to protect the tender, broken heart that has repented and presented itself to the Lord. God is speaking to you today. He has secrets just for you. Thoughts that will blow your mind with possibility. He desires a personal relationship with you that will bring you together as one. God is speaking to you. Are you listening?

Psalm 27:8 (NIV) My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.”

Throwing Shade

Throwing Shade

I Peter 5:7-10 (NLT) Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are. In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation.

Is the enemy throwing shade today? Telling you lies like things are not going to get better, you are going under, nothing will change and you might as well get used to it. As if the lie was not enough to plant a seed of doubt, he comes behind the lie and waters it with all the reasons why you are not worthy of God’s Love and Goodness to further grow doubt and disbelief until prevailing darkness weighs heavy in our mind.

The Urban Dictionary describes the term “throwing shade” as trash talking about a friend or acquaintance or to publicly denounce or disrespect. I know the term because I am blessed with teenagers. Throwing shade is a subtle insult not necessarily a direct attack. It doesn’t always result in a direct hit but a slight notice or thought – “Hey, is that about me” or “directed at me”. It is in that moment the “what if” begins or even worse offense takes hold that the attacker hits the mark of its prey. The trouble is no one really knows the truth from a lie so inevitably relationships are destroyed by the notion that someone is “throwing shade” whether relevant or not.

These subtle attacks on relationships are working. Young people today are victims of the viral offense of the enemy to destroy relationships the way that God intended them to be. Jesus Christ is a direct result of God’s Desire to have a relationship with us. He sent His Only Son to die so that our right standing could be restored and our relationship with God, our Father, renewed. His Spirit living in us is evidence of the bond formed. Our perception of relationship has become skewed as people text rather than talk, assume rather than engage, and live life in a self-made bubble based on who people want them to be rather than who the Creator designed them to become. The enemy thrives on our insecurities and uncertainties. Even believers struggle within the social circle called church never fully becoming the family of God by developing strong bonds and relationships. Seeking perfection in people and placing our expectation in the imperfection of the same, it is no wonder that we have forgotten the power and authority given to us by Jesus Christ of overcoming the enemy and all of his schemes.

“He prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking who he may devour.” There are lions who live in captivity. They engage with humans as house cats. While onlookers wonder if they will turn on their captor one day. The lion is the “king of the jungle.” Created to be a powerful predator. Held by a chain or even nothing at all – the will of the lion is broken. He remains subject to the one who cares for him. His natural instinct conditioned to a life of domestication rather than fierce nobility. Jesus has given us His Power and Authority for here and now, but I wonder how many of us live subject to the lie of the enemy? How often we live in the captivity of fear, doubt, insecurity and disbelief without even knowing it? The enemy is powerless unless we become the one he can devour.

Luke 10:19-20 (NLT) Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you. But don’t rejoice because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered in heaven.”

Do you believe that you have been given “authority over all the power of the enemy”? Do you believe that “nothing will injure you”? Do you believe…? If we truly believed, it would impact our way of life. It would be evident in how we live, how we react, how we respond, and what we do each day. Our relationship with Jesus Christ and the fact He lives in us gives us all power and authority over the enemy in our life. However, the enemy knows that if he can just convince you of a half-truth and create just a little uncertainty in you – he’s got you right where he wants you. He doesn’t have to beat you – you will give up. He doesn’t have to force you – you will give in. He doesn’t even have to convince you because without confidence you are easily shakable and movable. He just have to throw enough shade to put out the Light that was only a flicker or spark inside of you. See the enemy is not as strong as most give him credit for. He is just a really good liar.

Ephesians 6:12-18 (NLT) For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.

God’s Armor is not external. It is the protection of God given for our heart, soul and mind. The enemy doesn’t want our body or physical part of our life. It is dying anyway. He wants to change our heart, mind and soul concerning our faith in God and reliance on the Trinity for life. He wants to throw shade to create obstacles and obscure the vision of God for us. If he can just get in your head, he has access to the control panel of feelings, emotions, and logic. Belt of truth and body armor of righteousness fortify the platform of our existence, though unperceivable with human eyes it is the very foundation of our faith. Peace of God keeps us steady and gives us traction when everything starts moving and shaking. A moving mountain makes quite an earthquake. The shield of faith wards off the barbs of the ingenious lies of the enemy that twist truth into palatable fodder that makes us drift in doubt and disbelief. The helmet of salvation is secured with the chinstrap of grace. The enemy wants you to believe that grace is not enough when the truth is grace is always sufficient and Christ is more than enough. The sword of the Spirit is important. It is the Word of God. Most Christians today have dull swords and do not know the Truth from a lie. Many completely disregard the Spirit of the Living God which means they have nothing of use to ward off the enemy when he comes calling.

Pray. Stay alert. Be persistent. How much time is given to your relationship with Jesus Christ each day? I am not talking about hours of service in organized religion. I am not asking how many generous offerings of time, talent or treasure given to others. I am asking how much time is spent in intimacy with the Lover of Your Soul. The One who died for you. The One who fights for you and hands you the victory. The One who is with you. Never leaves you. Never forsakes you. Never gives up on you. Always waits for you. No matter how you treat the Lord – He is always giving us unfailing love, amazing grace, unending mercy, and great goodness. Him. How much your life is given to cultivating a real and abiding relationship with Jesus Christ? It is the strength of our relationship with Jesus Christ that keeps us from believing the lie of the enemy. If we know the Lord, then the lie or half-truth becomes obvious because we know the Word and have chose to believe Him.

John 16:33 (NLT) I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

Jesus overcame the world. He has been given by God all authority and power over the enemy of this world. In turn, the Lord decided to give us His Power. We have it. But like the lion in captivity, sometimes the enemy persuades to doubt our position in God through Christ. He tells us that freedom is a lie so we will give it back to him. He constantly questions the sufficiency of grace until we give up the fulfillment offered by the Lord to regain control and comfort. Every day as long as the sun rises and sets – the enemy will stop to get you to lay down your cross and pick up the burdens, cares and worries of life. You have the power to overcome. But will you?

The enemy will continue to “throw shade” as the young people say. He cannot put out a light that shines from the inside. He cannot put out a fire that burns from the inside. If we will place an emphasis on cultivating a forever bond and thriving relationship with Jesus Christ, we will not continually fall for his lies and deceptions because we know the Truth. We believe it because we have firsthand intimate knowledge of Jesus Christ through His Word, prayer and intimacy of time spent in His Presence. We pursue the Lord. We desire Him. It is in this relationship that we begin to build lasting and loving relationships with people because now we do not look for their acceptance any longer. We do not expect them to be our fulfillment. Freedom in Christ is to live liberated from every lie the enemy tries to capture us with and throwing it back to the pit of hell. Lord, I pray for my brothers and sisters in Christ today. Lord, spark a desire for more intimacy with you Jesus. Help us fan the tiny flicker of passion inside of us into a burning light or raging fire that the enemy cannot put out. Let your Spirit guide us from victory to victory leading us from self-dependency to sole reliance in You today! We are overcomes! We are victorious! We have all power and authority over the enemy! We believe, God! Lord, help our unbelief in Jesus Name!

2 Corinthians 10:5 (NLT) We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.

Level Paths

Level Paths

Isaiah 26:7-8 (NIV) The path of the righteous is level; you, the Upright One, make the way of the righteous smooth. Yes, Lord, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for you; your name and renown are the desire of our hearts.

There is a popular Christian saying that “God is greater than our highs and lows.” Originating from Romans 8:39 – it is a reminder that neither height nor depth or anything in all creation can ever separate us from the Love of God. The certainty of our faith and confident hope in Christ is the fact that His Unconditional Love and Unfathomable Grace belongs to us. No matter how chaotic our conditions or crazy the circumstances of life become making it possible to keep our eyes on Him and our feet traveling in His Direction. The acquisition and full possession God’s Love personally and intimately allows us to walk on level paths. It says so in Isaiah 26 that “the path of the righteous is level.” He makes “the way of the righteous smooth.” The journey of life is full of bumps, barricades and road blocks. We can overcome them all in the Name of Jesus. But how?

Glad you asked. When we walk in the way of the Word, waiting on the Lord, and make His Name and Glory our deepest desire – a union is formed between us. In Matthew 11, Jesus offers to yoke with us or become partners. Intimacy with the Lord requires many of the same things that a personal relationship in the natural would. We must learn to pay attention, invest energy, and give up our way in order to move closer to Him and become one with Christ. Christ lives in us. His Spirit is evidence of the consummation and desire of the Lord to be one with us. However, just as two people can live in the same home or be married for decades, sometimes intimacy is not achieved. Any relationship that is ignored will die over time.

With this in mind, are you walking with Jesus today? Are you aware of His Presence in you and around you right now? He goes before us, stands right there with us, lives in us and hedges us in from behind. I am just like you and cannot fully comprehend the omnipresence of God but by faith I accept it and choose to engage in a relationship because I have confident hope. The Lord has made the Way for us. He has ordered our steps and leveled our path. How do I find it?

Psalm 119:103-105 (NIV) How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! I gain understanding from your precepts; therefore I hate every wrong path. Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

As a teenager, I was challenged by a Sunday school teacher to learn and memorize scripture verses. She gifted me with a little packet of cards. Psalm 119:105 was one of the first verses. Why do we need God’s Word? I have heard many people express difficulty in reading, understanding and continuing in the Word of God. I get it because I used to feel the exact same way. However, the Word of God is absolutely essential to walking on level paths through life. You must know the Word to know Jesus Christ. He is the Word. The Word of God is our instruction book and map to the promises and blessings that the Lord has hidden in this life for our natural and spiritual success. It points us in the right direction. It helps us to decide at the crossroads of life and valleys of indecision. The Word of God is our weapon against the lie of the enemy which is the only thing that he has in his arsenal to use against us. The Bible tells us that people perish for a lack of knowledge. It points out that in the end times – the Word will help people identify false teaching. It is absolutely the lamp and compass for our life.

Psalm 119:103 describes the Word as “sweet” to the taste. It’s funny that sometimes it seems like a bitter pill going down but as we begin to feast on His Word, chew it up, and fully digest it something remarkable happens. The Holy Spirit takes the Truth and begins to feed and nourish our soul with it. He uses it to combat all our rebellious thoughts and contrary nature. As we grow stronger in the Word, it develops and matures us from the inside out. When I eat a green bean, I do not immediately feel full. I do not experience the process going on inside of me as my body takes all the nutrients out of the vegetable. It begins a digestion process with in me. I also don’t immediately feel the effects of white chocolate macadamia cookies when I eat them – I just know I really like them until I cannot button my jeans. The Word of God is not always a quick fix. It is an ongoing investment in intimacy with Christ as we get to know Him more and more. We eat (or at least are supposed to) three meals a day. Some of us may do a little snacking, too. This keeps our body strong and healthy. The Word must be partaken just the same to build a strong and healthy soul that will prosper.

Psalm 18:32-36 (NIV) It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he causes me to stand on the heights. He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze. You make your saving help my shield, and your right hand sustains me; your help has made me great. You provide a broad path for my feet, so that my ankles do not give way.

David killed a lion and a bear before facing the giant that day. God ordered his steps to train him for one of the biggest challenges of his life. He spent countless hours tending sheep. During that time, it is clear that he spent time with the Lord. David is called a man after God’s Own Heart. His Love for us unquestionable in the giving of His Son, Jesus. His Commitment undeniable as evidenced by His Spirit entrusted us. God gave us the Word to make our paths level, but that doesn’t mean to smooth out all the bumps in the roadway of life. It is not about making this life and the world a better place. He has given us His Word and provided the way for level paths by faith and confidence. God is greater than the highs and lows because He carries us high above them.

The Lord has provided a wide path, a spacious place, an open heaven in our midst. Walking in it doesn’t always mean there will not be challenges, struggles or battles otherwise there would be no need to train us or give us a shield. We wouldn’t need His Help if perfection possible. He causes me to stand on the heights but that means I am going to travel up some mountains out of some pretty low valleys. BUT…it says He keeps my way secure…whatever that way is…God has already been there to make a way where there was no way, provide everything I need to get through it and most assuredly will give me victory in due time.

Hebrews 12:12-13 (NIV)Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. “Make level paths for your feet,” so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed.

Make level paths for your feet. Our active participation and dedication to intimacy with Jesus Christ is to pursue Him in the Word. By doing so, we level the way before us because our life is no longer defined by words, opinions or lies. It is bound by Truth. Truth will produce more faith and confidence in the Lord. Confidence that will keep on keeping on even when the mountain seems high or the valley too low. His Love will carry you above your situation to see things as He sees them and give you hope that keeps you in the good fight of faith. Be encouraged today. God loves you. No height or depth or anything in all creation will ever separate you from His Love whether naturally occurring or self-imposed. His Grace is ALWAYS enough. The Lord will never ever let you down. You have to believe that to receive it otherwise your life will be wasted reacting to the change of scenery rather than responding to His Promises and flourishing in faith. You have His Word. You have His Spirit. Christ is in you. Make level your path today. Fill your insufficient faith with the Word and watch it grow into all the good things He promised.

Hebrews 4:12 (NIV) For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

Know the Truth

Know the Truth

Titus 1:2 (NLT) This truth gives them confidence that they have eternal life, which God—who does not lie—promised them before the world began.

“A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes.” (Charles Spurgeon) The only weapon in the arsenal of the enemy are his lies. The only thing that he can use against a believer is their ignorance of God’s Word and the Truth therein. However, the power of the lie is that it is easily believable so seemingly rational and plausible. The validity of lies in our life are usually based on fear and insecurity. The inner flaw of human weakness that feeds on the lie rather than seeking and embracing the truth. Our experiences in life will mold and shape our thoughts into vessels that catch certain things more readily than others.

It is impossible to please God apart from faith. (Hebrews 11:6) Faith comes by hearing the Word of God. (Romans 10:17) Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life – He is the only way to approach the Father and live in His Righteousness. (John 14:6) Over and over again in the New Testament, Jesus continually repeats “I tell you the truth…” Standing before high priest, our Savior asks, “If I said anything wrong, you must prove it. But if I’m speaking the truth, why are you beating me?” Religion faced off with a real relationship with God, truth won that day but it sure didn’t seem like it. Jesus would be beaten some more, nailed to a Cross, then buried in a tomb.” What did that say about the truth? In the darkness of the three days while Jesus waited His Time, the disciples were face with the daunting task of holding on to the truth or embracing a lie. Hidden in the upper room praying, weeping and crying out to God – they were no doubt filled with fear and anxiety. But what they didn’t know in that moment was the prevailing truth that would soon be revealed.

Mahatma Gandhi said, “Truth stands, even if there be no public support. It is self-sustained.” What is the truth that governs your life today? Truth is cemented in what we believe. It may not be the same for everyone according to what they believe but given the appropriate amount of time – truth always prevails. The importance of truth in our life adds validity to our belief system. If we build our life on a lie, the lie is a shaky foundation. It is constantly moving, evolving and changing. Usually emotionally driven, it will set forth a series of events that lead us away from our destination in a series of delays and detours. However, the truth is an actual state. It is the verified and indisputable reality. However, if we cannot see the truth, feel it or touch it – we must decide in its invisibility whether to receive it or not.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NLT) All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

I wonder what would happen in the life of Christians if rather than listening to the opinions of others – our value and worth was based solely on God’s Teaching. The Word of God carefully outlining the details of our life and ordering our steps. Pride keeps us from hearing the Word and doing what it says in fear it may restrict our freedom. This is how the enemy wields his weapon in our life. Feeding us half-truth and watered down lies to convince us that God is not as good as He says He is and that His Promises are not really for me. We get so tangled up in his lies and caught up in fear and insecurity that suddenly an invisible cell of our construction rises up around us. God uses His Word to prepare and equip us to do every good work.

John 8:43-45 (NLT)  Why can’t you understand what I am saying? It’s because you can’t even hear me! For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies. So when I tell the truth, you just naturally don’t believe me!

The truth allows us to recognize a lie. If we know the truth about something, we are not so quick to believe or accept a lie. With this in mind, it is important that the Word of God becomes the foundation of our life. A solid foundation poured in our life will not allow the enemy to carry us off so quickly with his deception. We need God’s Truth to keep us secure in our faith at all times. The truth secures our freedom. (John 8:32) Ignorance will cause death in our life. It kills the possibility and potential placed in us by God for the fulfillment of purpose. It restricts our growth and development in the Lord because we do not have a good foundation to be rooted and grounded in beginning with God’s Love. If people were absolutely convinced in God’s Love, Grace and Goodness given to us through His Son, Jesus Christ, it would be life changing. Nothing would sway us from seeking truth and pursuing it with passion. Have you fallen for a lie that is hindering the reality of truth in your life? Are you bound by something other than the embrace of Christ? It may be as easy as allowing the Truth to set you free again.

Ephesians 4:13-15 (NLT) This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ. Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church.

The Word of God cuts away the stronghold of the enemies lies in our life. It is alive and powerful. God’s Word is sharp because it is true. Truth does not give way to a lie just as light does not give in to darkness. God does not lie. He does not change His Mind because He is truth. (Numbers 23:19; 2 Timothy 2:19) Jesus is the Truth. (John 14:6) His Unbending and Unyielding Ways are not because He is rigid and uncaring but because He is Truth. The truth will never give in to a lie. This is so important. The enemy uses his lies to cut us and harm us. To keep us from the life God has given us through His Son, Jesus. To convince us that there is there are things we can do to separate us from the Love of God when nothing could be further from the Truth.

The Bible says that true worshippers do so in Spirit and in truth. (John 4:24) The Lord has filled us with His Spirit as a believer and that Spirit is Truth. (John 16:13) We must get to know the Truth for ourselves. We must read the Word, study the Word, digest the Word, and live the Word in order to be released from every lie set as a trap to keep us from God’s Best. God’s Word, His Truth, creates unity in the Body called the church when we hold on to the Truth it allows us to come together in the commonality of Christ alone. The enemy wants to split the church, divide its people and take out the lost and isolated. What are you going to do about it?

Psalm 85:10-13 (NLT) Unfailing love and truth have met together. Righteousness and peace have kissed! Truth springs up from the earth, and righteousness smiles down from heaven. Yes, the Lord pours down his blessings. Our land will yield its bountiful harvest. Righteousness goes as a herald before him, preparing the way for his steps.

When unfailing love and truth met together salvation was born. A gift like no other given to imperfect people from a perfect God. It is a real life love story. Righteousness and peace with God came together and united now His Truth for our life is possible again. What sin once kept us from grace carries us right to it. There is nothing I can do to stop God’s Call or Potential in my life except to grab hold of the enemy’s lie and run with it. See God’s Truth is the mandate of my life as a believer and absolutely belongs to me thanks to Jesus Christ. If my life does not resemble the promise or plan that I have been given, it may be that I have allowed a lie to somehow make its way to my heart and taken it in as truth. The greatest part of the truth that governs my life is that His Grace is enough for me every time I fail or fall for the lie of the enemy. All I have to do is let go and let God take over again. God has ordained blessing and prosperity for my life that grows as I accept His Truth planting seeds of faith from it. It blossoms and blooms into all the good things that He has promised. It allows me the freedom to love others because my expectation is fully met by His Love. I have nothing to gain from this world therefore I can live recklessly in love with people and abounding in generosity because I have all I need according to His Word. What about you? Are you living in the abundance of God in all things today? Are you filled peaceful satisfaction living a life of contentment and joy? If not, get in God’s Word today! Find your promise. Uproot lies and plant new seeds of faith. God is Good! He will never ever let you down! His Promises are true because it is impossible for Him to lie or change His Mind. Let God’s Truth become the foundation of your life. It doesn’t matter how things look today. It really doesn’t matter what anyone says. The Truth is the reality of your life and faith is how you access it. Know the Truth. Let it set you free from every lie until blessing rises up from the ashes of it.

All truths are easy to understand once they are discovered; the point is to discover them.” Galileo Galilei)

Truth is ever to be found in simplicity, and not in the multiplicity and confusion of things. (Isaac Newton)

The truth is inconvertible. Malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. (Winston Churchill)

Psalm 25:3-5 (NLT) No one who trusts in you will ever be disgraced, but disgrace comes to those who try to deceive others. Show me the right path, O Lord; point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you.

Hidden Snare

Hidden Snare

Proverbs 29:25 (NIV) Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.

Fear is a snare. It is a trap that keeps us from the safety and security of peace. It swallows up copious amounts of time with stress, worry and anxiety rather than love, peace and joy. Fear of anything other than the Lord does not produce a single thing of worth in our life but robs us of precious minutes. “Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?” (Matthew 6:27) I wonder if the psalmist in Psalm 25 was talking about fear when he wrote, “The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them. My eyes are ever on the Lord, for only he will release my feet from the snare.” (Psalm 25:14-15)

The enemy wants to convince you today that God doesn’t love his people unconditionally. He tries to convict us with lies and half-truths using the Word of God in a twisted and tainted fashion. Religion concocts remedies to keep pride alive and the façade of control while people are ravaged by such antidotes. Fear of man…or anything else for that matter will prove to be a snare for God’s People. Faith is the only thing that can overcome fear. It comes at the price of seeing to believe. It is a radical form of trust in a Living God who is not perceived by our senses but known by our heart.

Job 1:6-11 (NIV) One day the angels came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came with them. The Lord said to Satan, “Where have you come from?” Satan answered the Lord, “From roaming throughout the earth, going back and forth on it.” Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.” “Does Job fear God for nothing?” Satan replied. “Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. But now stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face.”

Job 2:3-4 (NIV) Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil. And he still maintains his integrity, though you incited me against him to ruin him without any reason.” “Skin for skin!” Satan replied. “A man will give all he has for his own life.

The “even-ifs” of life are those moments when despite trial, trouble or tragedy, hope remains steadfastly anchored in God alone. Job experienced times like this. He lost everything of value and worth including his children in a single day. The next day, after proving his love and devotion to the Lord – his body afflicted. The Lord allowed it. We know in the end God restored Job and gave him a double portion blessing but oh what a price he paid in the fire of refinement. Maybe you remember three Hebrew men – Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego.

Daniel 3:16-18 (NIV) Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to him, “King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”

“But even if he does not, we want you to know…we will not serve other gods.” Our confidence in God must grow to larger than our fear of other things. Even if He (the Lord) does not, we will not serve another. Such confident trust that even in death, our complete and absolute trust is in the Lord. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves, we must make it through today.

Some points of interest in Job’s Account is that Satan went before the Lord in the heavenlies. God is fully aware of the enemy and his earthly activities. Secondly, the enemy asked for permission to tempt the man of God. Why in the world would the Lord allow such a thing? My faith in the Lord must be genuine. When the hedge of protection is secure and everything is going good, it isn’t that hard to be faithful to the Lord. However, when all hell breaks loose in our life, what happens next is true revelation. Even if, God doesn’t deliver me what will I do about it?

Romans 8:14-16 (NIV) For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.

You are a child of the Living God. You have every reason to live a fearless life. However, total faith in the absence of fear does not exempt you from fiery trials. In fact, it turns up the furnace seven times hotter. True repentance should produce real faith. Faith that withstands trial, trouble or even tragedy is real and genuine. It is said to be more valuable than gold. The Spirit of God gives us liberty from fear, worry, stress and anxiety but it is up to the individual the role taken in life. The sons and daughters of God are not in bondage. There is no enslavement for Christ but rather servanthood as His Beloved. Who the Son sets free is free indeed – first and foremost from fear that hinders our faith. But can we say, “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” (Romans 8:18)

Romans 8 goes on to say…

Romans 8:28 (NIV)  And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Are you wondering today – how can any good come from this? Why would God allow such a thing to happen to me? Where is He when I need Him most? Fear whispers such terrible lies but the Truth God is with us. His Word will not return to Him void which includes this one. He will never let the righteous fall. I could go on and on with the Truth that refutes the lie of the enemy challenging the Sovereignty and Constancy of God.

Romans 8:37-39 (NIV) No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Perfect love drives out fear. (I John 4:18) The more we seek to know the Lord and His Word, the less likely it is that we will fall for the lies, traps and snares of the enemy. The Light of His Love illuminates our way so that we can overstep and bypass them. The Promise is that we are more than conquerors so even if we must fight the good fight of faith there is nothing to fear. We win. We will be victorious simply because Christ overcame the world. He is our Beloved who gives us victory after victory. There is nothing that can separate us from the Love of God. What can make us depart from it today? Usually fear is focused in that area, the thing that we just cannot seem to trust God with. Is it your family? Your finances? Your future? Whatever it is should be evident to you. It is the place where fear constantly challenges your faith. Where you feel the least hope and struggle with confidence in God. It is the place where the enemy lays his most intricate traps and seeks the Lord’s permission to challenge you on a regular basis.

2 Timothy 1:7 (NIV) For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.

His Grace is enough! It is always sufficient. Grace gives us access to God’s Power. You have the power to overcome the enemy including every lie he tries to feed you today. Do not feed your fears. Let God’s Word feed your faith today. His Love is unconditional. You can never blow it with God in a way that cannot be overcome by His Grace. His Power is always available to us. His Love for us complete without our contribution. Finally, self-discipline is the key to overcoming fear each day. We have God’s Spirit alive and well on the inside of us. It is up to us if He will be in control of our mind, will and emotions today. Will I allow God’s Spirit to stir my faith and build strong confidence in Christ or will I let fear take over? I choose faith today. How about you? Lord, reveal all my fears to me today so that I may strive to apply faith to them. Every snare, trap and lie the enemy has laid before me so by faith I can leap over them into Your Waiting Arms. Let me live fearlessly in love with You!

You unravel me with a melody…You surround me with a song… Of deliverance from my enemies…’Til all my fears are gone. I’m no longer a slave to fear…I am a Child of God!

Expose the Lie

expose the lie

2 Corinthians 10:4-6 (NIV)  For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete.

We have divine power to demolish strongholds. We can demolish every argument and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God. We don’t do it on social media, in great debates, laced with human opinion. Yes, I said it. Like throwing stones over a wall, it is easier to point on the failed logic of another than face our own walls and abatements head-on. The war to be one is in our own mind. We cannot convince another person of God’s Love, Grace and Mercy until first finding Him faithful for ourselves. All the times that I have read these verses, I guess I missed the part about me. It begins in me. It begins by trusting God enough to live by the Truth and expose every lie keeping me from a closer relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

The natural definition of stronghold is a well-fortified place. The Spirit-Filled Bible commentary says this: “Strongholds are first established in the mind: that is why we are to take every thought captive. Behind a stronghold is a lie – a place of personal bondage where God’s Word has been subjugated to         (under the complete control of or subject to or conquered by) any unscriptural idea or personally confused belief that is held to be true. Behind every lie is a fear, behind every fear is an idol. Idols are established wherever there exists a failure to truss tin the provisions of God that are ours through Jesus Christ.” I have been chewing on this for a while. We do not fight for victory but from a place of victory.

John 8:44 (NIV) You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

According to John 1:14, Jesus is the Word of God who arrived in flesh to dwell with us. We have seen the Glory of God in His Son full of grace and truth. However, the Word of God that is truth is constantly challenged by the father of lies who is always sowing seeds of doubt in the form of lies. Lies upon lies that seem logical and plausible compared to current conditions in life. It is up to us as believers to discern the Truth from lies. Easier said than done when the enemy knows God’s Word and uses it against us. Lack of knowledge can bring about death in the heart of a believer. Eve heard God speak directly. However, when the enemy challenged the truth with a lie – she decided to take the lie to have the immediate gratification of fruit that it offered. Thankfully – we have the example of Jesus who when led to the wilderness by the Spirit to be tempted – effectively used the Word of God to dismiss every lie the enemy offered Him. It is important to evaluate our belief in life and decide “who told you that”? God asked Adam and Eve the very same question after sin entered the garden that day.

I John 1:5-7 (NIV) This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

When our youngest child was about four or five, she asked if Santa Claus was a real person. She wanted to know if he really went to every house bring gifts on Christmas Eve. If you knew our child, you would know she thrives on truth. She basks in knowledge. Google is her best friend when she needs information fast. I said to her, “You know that once you know the truth you cannot continue to believe a lie.” Her response, “I knew he wasn’t real.” How many times do we know the truth but do not want to live by it. In her case, she was afraid to reveal her disbelief because someone had told her that she wouldn’t get gifts anymore. How many times do we do the very same thing? How often do we live in disappointment rather than taking a chance on hope? How often do we build walls to house our insecurity than to walk fearlessly from victory to victory? As we rode in the car a little while longer, I was concerned that she might not believe in the reality of Jesus Christ if Santa wasn’t real so I asked her, “You know that Jesus is real right?” She said, “Oh yes, I know HE is real!” What a relief!

Truth is elusive in the natural. Before you balk, when was the last time you used a picture on social media without a filter or didn’t take it 20 times before choosing one to post? I am not judging anyone I promise. I use filters all the time in more ways than one. However, to live in the Light of God’s Love requires complete honesty. His Light makes us transparent before Him. We claim to live in the Light but often have secret lives lived in secret places unbeknownst even to ourselves. God sees right through it. Nothing is hidden from Him. We must strive to live honest and open lives before the Lord to give credibility to our faith and fortify our hope.

Hebrews 4:12 (NIV) For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

The Word of God cuts through every lie. It exposes the Truth about us and works it in us. It penetrates to divide our soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It sheds glorious light in the darkest places. We are all subject to such a process that compares our thoughts, ideas and believes to the Word of God challenging every mindset not found there. This is how we change our expectation from the natural to supernatural. If you knew what the Word of God said about your life and believed that it truly belonged to you – it would change your heart and mind!

God’s Word is seed in our life. It is grows into fruitful abundance.  As our soul prospers so does our life. Are you sowing God’s Word in the open recesses of your heart today? Are you allowing the Light of His Love to penetrate the carefully constructed walls housing insecurity and fear that His Word is not for you, maybe that He could not possibly love you or that your sin is too heinous to forgive? All lies. Every single one of them. Even religion and traditions handed down through generations become watered down truth and potential lies. (Mark 7:9-14) There is no way to know our true identity in Jesus Christ outside of God’s Word. Our spirit is empowered by it. The Holy Spirit uses it as a weapon to defend our growing faith and blossoming potential.

Romans 1:20-21(NIV)  For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.

Romans 1:25 (NIV) They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

The Word of God is the logic of faith. You will never know what you believe as a Christian outside of God’s Word and its application. You will never know the blessings and promises that belong to you if you do not seek them out and decide to have them. God makes Himself fully available to us. We must simply know who and what we are looking for so when a lie presents itself it is easily identified by the Truth living in us.

In our office, there is a picture of a deer. It is elementary sketching in pencil. The owner of the company tells the story of his mother’s love for yard and estate sales. She came across this picture and bought it for a couple dollars. What the original owner did not know is that this was an original sketch by artist, Salvador Dali. A valuable piece of art sitting with other common household items and junk people were just trying to get rid of. I wonder how many times that God has things intended for our life yet we exchange the process of truth for the immediate gratification offered in the lie? More than I care to know and enough that I intend to change…

God calls you His Masterpiece. God doesn’t make junk. The process of God begins with changing our mind and accepting a new identity as Child of the Living God. The father of lies is no longer in charge of parenting you. You have a Good Father who sees your great potential. He promises to work every detail of your life into that good for His Glory. What if the very thing holding you back is a stronghold in your mind seeded by the enemy long ago marked for eradication by God in order to prosper your life? We must allow God to change our mind through His Word before we can change the world for Him. Lord, expose every lie I have allowed to live in me and shed Your Light Glorious Light upon it. In Jesus Name…AMEN!

Psalm 139:23-24 (NIV) Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

No Longer Condemned

No Longer Condemned

Romans 8:1 (NKJV) There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

The enemy of all mankind will use just about any bat handed to him. He is aggressive and ruthless in his attack against humanity. He hates people. So when given the opportunity to remind us of faults, failures and shortcomings – he capitalizes completely. Given our inability to earn salvation or restore our relationship with God outside of Christ creates a vulnerability to these tactics. Shame and regret are his biggest enforcers of our insecurity and inability to own our new relationship with God through His Son. We are no longer condemned but empowered by God’s Grace to become new creations. If only we could see the Gloriousness of God and His Goodness concerning us to silence the lie of the enemy in our life.

God doesn’t wait with a huge sledgehammer to smash us when we sin. In fact, our sin grieves God. His Hate for sin doesn’t extend to the offenders. He only hates sin not those who live in it. Unconditional love is probably the greatest love of all and easiest to maintain if our heart would only receive it and our head able to conceive it. Hurt and betrayal harden our heart to such a thing in light of our own broken emotions. This limits the Body of Christ in fully filling each position. It hinders the Kingdom coming to earth in disbelief. God wants to break the stronghold of condemnation over your life. Whether promoted by religion or simply a lack of knowledge. He wants to break through this barrier and free you from this hindrance in your life. God is good. He wants His Glory to fill us to overflowing…despite what we may think of ourselves?

John 3:18-20 (NKJV) “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.

Why does God love me? How do I know that He does? How can I be sure? Well, the Word of God tells us that God is love (I John 4:8) and He first loved us (I John 4:19)! God’s Word is the credibility of my faith and the logic that I must live by to successfully overcome every lie introduced by the enemy. I must believe God’s Word is for me and about me. I must allow His Spirit to sow the Word in my heart so it will become the wisdom of my life. Jesus is the Word of God who came wrapped in flesh to demonstrate God’s Love and Desire for me. (John 1:14) The Love of God for mankind is who He is. We cannot make God love us because He already does. His Mercy each day delivered to everyone regardless of what they believe and how they live is evidence that His Love will stop at nothing to apprehend us.

The only condemnation is disbelief. To refuse the Love of God given in His Son Jesus Christ is the only condemnation possible for people. When presented with the Light of His Love, yet they choose darkness rather than light. Aha! Said all the religious people with a Pharisee-spirit in them. No this does not mean that sinners are condemned but rather those who do not desire a relationship with God. The application of grace does not mean that a person is no longer a sinner just forgiven. Doing some things right (or religiously) does not promote you to a higher level in God. In fact, the more humble the person the closer to God. Those who reject His Love. This is very different that feeling unworthy or insignificant. There are a whole lot of people in the world who entered our churches and rather than experiencing the selfless and unconditional love of God – they were condemned by Christians and wandered empty and helplessly back into the darkness. Shame on us for putting a higher price on our love than God puts on His Love. He stops at nothing to make a way for us to enter right standing and promote a restored relationship with even the most violent offender.

2 Corinthians 3:7-10 (NKJV) But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away, how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious? For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory. For even what was made glorious had no glory in this respect, because of the glory that excels.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) This is one of the most known verses in the Word of God. God loved us. He sent His Son to save us. But there is more to the story that is relevant and true. “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” The purpose of Christ was not two-fold. He did not come to save some and condemn others. God is never double-minded. Jesus came that the world might be saved and have everlasting life. There is no condemnation in Christ today. If you feel condemned, it is not from God. God is love! His Mercy is new every morning. He loved you first. He loves you the most. His Grace is enough to gain access to every blessing and experience His Glory in your life. You don’t have to do everything right just love His Son and believe in Him for salvation. A brand new life as a new creation is only accessible through Christ. He gives it to us with a helper that will help us in our weakness. Take knowledge and turn into wisdom. There is no sin insurmountable to an ounce of Christ’s Precious Blood – you are not condemned but made alive again. Resurrection life and power are working its way through you to make its way out of you. Put down the big bat of condemnation, shame, guilt or any other lie that the enemy handed you today. You have a purpose and plan designed for you by the Hand of God. The whole point is that you will know His Love. Gird yourself in the Truth that God loves you. Jesus died for you! His Grace is enough for you! You are alive again! Now walk in that freedom! Live in His Glory! He is for you! Never ever not once against you! Jesus is Our Champion – claim your victory today!

John 16:33 (NIV) “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

True Freedom

John 8:31-32 (NLT) Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

There have been some who criticize my writing because it can be lengthy. The suggestion has been made to only reference the Word of God rather than including full passages of scripture. I have been doing this for about eight years now. I have thought about these words and carefully considered others opinions and I have come to the conclusion that I just cannot do it. The Word of God is absolutely essential to our daily life as a believer. Early in my Christian walk, I struggled reading the Bible. It seemed repetitive and boring. It wasn’t a story but excerpts of history. It didn’t seem logical. I couldn’t make it applicable to my life or so I thought. I am an avid reader though I will admit I have a pile of books that are left unread. I have produced one out of five children who also loves books and a second on the proverbial fence. My other three children abhor it. We must read, digest and implement the Word of God in our life to live in true freedom as a believer. Without it, there is potential and purpose in our life that will go undiscovered and unrealized simply due to ignorance.

Matthew 4:3-4 (NLT) During that time the devil came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread.” But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” (Deuteronomy 8:3)

Jesus was led to the wilderness by the Holy Spirit where He would be tempted. The enemy cannot touch a single hair on the head of God’s Children unless God allows it. But before you get all up in arms, not everything that occurs in our life is at the direct hand of the enemy as much as people love to blame him. The enemy simply offers suggestions and opportunities in the form of temptation to stray from our faith, belief and dependency on God to have our own way. There are consequential conditions as a direct result of sowing and reaping. There are things that happen due to our unwillingness to change or be changed as a reaction to our action. The Lord has given us freedom to choose our way. Those who decide to follow the Way, Truth and Life will have the condition added that God will work all things together for our good. Sin introduced evil, perversity and sickness into this world and Jesus has overcome them all giving us a better and more excellent way. Sickness may end in death but to a true believer it means stepping into forever with the Lord. The world shapes our perspective to consider more than this life and see past the temporary trials of today. Less I digress…

In the story of Jesus experiencing temptation from the enemy firsthand, He overcame every one with the Word of God. He simply repeated back to Satan the Truth which nullifies the lie. Ignorance is never bliss. It can be death even to those who think they are serving the Lord faithfully but miss out on the One who overcomes death and the grave. I can understand the concept of sowing and reaping. It can increase and add abundance to my life. Without Jesus, it is just evidence of God’s Constant Character and Solid Sovereignty but without the Word – I can never go farther than provisional principle. I want a covenant relationship with God the Father so I must go through the Son.

John 1:1-5 (NLT) In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.

John 1:10-14 (NLT) He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him. He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God. So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.

Our daughter lives in the New England area. She and a friend were driving through the city. The story goes that our daughter screamed stopped the car and jumped out unto the crowded street. She runs up to a complete stranger and asks him for a picture. They snap a selfie thanking him she hops in the car and drives off with her friend. She posts the pic on social media all excited about the encounter and calls me to share her story. The actor is from a famous sitcom. I don’t watch television much other than thee occasional real estate or home improvement show. I have just lost interest in it and would rather do other things. At any rate, her shock was clear that I did not know this person and that I didn’t recognize his name. Her story was not very exciting to me other than I could tell she was excited. Now her husband was a different story, the actor was actually one of his favorites and she took the picture for him. He is probably still fan-guying over the whole episode. Do you know Jesus Christ? Who He is? What He came to do? His Place in the Trinity? How He feels about you? Do you really know the Lord?

Jesus is the Word of God. He was the spoken word that created the world and universe all around us. He is the very breath breathed in us that gives us life. He is the One who once believed and accepted will make us Children of God. He is full of unfailing love and faithfulness – the two qualities all of humanity search for and never find among the people who populate the planet. He is hidden in a book on the dusty shelf or Bible tucked neatly away reserved for Sundays, Wednesdays or the occasional small group…if that. The Lord said in the Old Testament that people will actually die from a lack of knowledge. The New Living Translation puts it like this – “My people are being destroyed because they don’t know me.” (Hosea 4:6) God wasn’t just talking about “lost folk” in this passage. No, it was about priests who had “forgotten the laws of your God”.  Some people think they know Jesus but when they die will be devastated to find they didn’t know Him at all.

John 4:23-24 (NLT) But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”

True worshippers. I want to be a true worshipper. I want to know Jesus more intimately and completely than even my husband who I know very well. We have been married a long time. Shared almost two decades together. He is my beloved. We have developed a marriage that is a partnership. Strived for two to become one even though sometimes it was a struggle and fight to the death of self that yielded two people willing to stick it out together come what may. I married this man knowing that God had given Him to me even though I met Him when I was living in the wilderness of the world. Sitting at a table in a loud crowded restaurant, I heard the Lord. I knew this was the one God sent for me. However, that didn’t mean that there would not be challenges along the way. In fact, I think the fact that we dedicated our lives and marriage to the Lord from the start even before fully coming back to God painted a bright red target on our backs. Our love for each and desire for God kept us in the fight. I cannot expect a solid marriage to Jesus Christ if I do not take the time to get to know Him. To decide that He is the One for me. To see that sweetness of His Love and full potential of His Character in my life. Salvation is an invitation to intimacy. His Presence is offered to everyone but when you arrive it is a One-on-One experience just you and Jesus. It is private. It is personal. It is intimate. You must decide your level of commitment to this covenant offered to you by Jesus Christ. Are you willing to lay it all down to pick up your Cross and follow Him? A disciple does that. To be His Disciple is to know the Truth and let the Truth set you free.

We must worship is Spirit and in Truth. The Spirit is in us waiting to take the Word of God and work it through our life. The Word does not make sense without the Spirit and the Spirit has nothing to work with outside of the Word. To live by the Spirit and ignore the Word creates a double standard and you will soon be frustrated by a lack of results. To read the Word and ignore the Person of the Holy Spirit is to apply a principle without any power. It is like plugging a power cord into a dead outlet. It just won’t work. It must all a work together. God is three persons. Father, Son and Spirit. We need them all to successfully discover the Truth and allow it to become our freedom.

Hebrews 4:12-14 (NLT) For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable. So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe.

When satan tempted Eve in the Garden, he did not come at her with a bold-faced obvious lie but a deviation of the truth. It was subtle. Cunning. Seemed logical. The enemy is sneaky. He doesn’t knock us off course but entices us to settle or compromise just a little. He tries to refute God’s Word on the tiniest detail. The Word of God is alive. His Name is Jesus! He lives in us. His Grace is enough so even when we fall for the enemy’s lie – the Truth will come to save us and set us free. We need the Word of God to serve the Lord with passion. We know Jesus through the Word because He is the Word. Faith is not logical outside of the Word of God. So without it, we will never understand this life we live, what to believe, or how to share Good News yet to be discovered. We cannot hold firmly to what or more importantly who we believe until we know Him. We cannot know Him without the Spirit AND Truth. You will never know what He has done for you until you know what He has promised. You will not recognize hope that never leads to disappointment until deciding that faith is worth the investment of time and energy ready, studying and digesting the Word of God. This is how Biblical Knowledge becomes Spiritual Truth that is our belief system. You will never know what you have until You get to know WHO He is!

Know the Truth. The Truth will set you free. This world is limited by darkness, sin and evil. The Word allows us to overstep the natural into the supernatural – not when we die but now. In this life, you can live totally free according to God’s Word and His Kingdom. The enemy builds barriers and obstacles in our life out of deceptive lies and half-truths that rob us of God’s Greatest Blessings. It is like being held captive in an unlocked cell. If he can convince you not to try the door or even shake it a little, the enemy can rob you of the love, joy and peace found in the Word of God our resting place. He can keep us from the blessings, prosperity, abundance and increase that comes from sowing God’s Word, watering it, waiting for it and harvesting all of His Promises and Blessings for us. You have been given a gift far greater than you will ever know trying to recognize and receive in the limitations of human thinking. With God all things are possible to those who believe. Do you believe? What do you believe? The Word of God will show you what you believe now and what is possible when you put all your faith and trust in Jesus! Be free today! Grab your Bible. Invite the Holy Spirit to show you something new there! Pray a promise found in His Word. Tomorrow – do the same thing. The next day – yep repeat. In no time at all, you will see dead things coming to life – word by word, line by line and precept by glorious precept. Get in the Word. It will set you free!

I John 2:4-6 (NLT) If someone claims, “I know God,” but doesn’t obey God’s commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth. But those who obey God’s word truly show how completely they love him. That is how we know we are living in him. Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did.

Even Though

I Peter 1:5-7 (NLT) And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see. So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while.  These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.

Excuses will always be there for you. Opportunities won’t. (Unknown) Today is an opportunity to choose to believe in God’s Love. His Goodness. His Glory. His Promises. You and I have Potential and a Plan carefully constructed in all the qualities of God mentioned above. It is a choice. Your choice and my choice that is made intentionally or unintentionally by the attitudes and actions formed to respond to the challenges of each moment. An excuse is to obtain an exemption or release. Our excuses are the very things that disconnect our faith from God’s Future. Excuses are evidence that there is a lack of belief on our part to the Characteristics of God that make Him perfect in all things. When I decide not to follow the Lord, and make an excuse I eliminate the potential in that moment accepting defeat. I have reduced the Greater is He that lives in me to just not enough. Is Christ enough for you today? Is He enough to eliminate excuses and execute excellence in your life?

Dani Johnson was a young woman who suffered violence and abuse in her childhood. As a teenager, she became pregnant by a deacon’s son in her church. She gave up her baby for adoption and walked away from church for good. Or so she thought, but the seeds of God’s Words were already sown deeply in her heart. God had a plan. Her potential became evident as she was an excellent sales person with a flourishing career who married a conman who was taking her money. He abandoned her with huge amounts of debt. Dani lost her job and her home. She was living in her car with $2.03 to her name. She was depressed and contemplating suicide. It was at that very moment she felt God’s Spirit within her telling her to press on, to rise up and do something with her life. She did. She went from homeless and broken starting her first business in the backseat of her car and in two years became a millionaire at 23. She is quoted as saying, “Excuses are well planned lies!” The enemy wants to destroy all of God’s Potential in our life. He does so by offering excuses when opportunity presents itself. He hushes the Voice of God with all the reasons it won’t happen. He recalls our past. He fills the present with busyness. He discounts our future. The productivity of his cultivation are all lies that become our excuses.

Jeremiah 29:11-13 (NLT) For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.

God has a plan for your life. These moments called past and present are all with in the woven threads of the dream and vision for your life. Romans 8:28 is His Promise that even the bad ones, hard ones or those deemed to be a failure have goodness in them providing for our future. He has promised that the plan is good with a future and hope attached which I believe references this life and forever. The fruit of the Spirit cultivates good things for now and later. Our steps are divinely ordered by the Lord so even when we walk through the shadow of the valley called death there is no reason to fear. The Lord is waiting for you to respond to His Offer. Will you willingly accept His Plan or continue to wander without purpose with blinders called excuses? The secret is in verse 13 – If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. To find Him is to have all that He has promised. We will not find the Lord if we do not believe. The evidence of belief is faith. Faith to follow the Lord without excuses.

Romans 4:20-21 (NLT) Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises.

Even though there was no reason to hope, Abraham kept hoping – believing that he would become a father despite his age. Even though – he was 100 years old and Sarah 99. Even though in the natural, Sarah’s womb would be considered dead. Abraham believed in God who brings the dead back to life. The promise of God is received by faith. Faith encounters the impossible and says, “Even though…I still believe.” This is the mindset of spiritual success. To be and do all that God promised requires this very idea to take root in our heart and mind and grow to be tree of life within us. The tree that provides the fruit to sustain us during drought seasons and times of famine when our life does not represent the purpose or potential that is God’s Plan. It is faith that meets the impossible and does not turn away but says…even though!

2 Corinthians 5:6-7 (NLT) So we are always confident, even though we know that as long as we live in these bodies we are not at home with the Lord. For we live by believing and not by seeing.

Faith is not necessary until the impossible presents itself. We are to live by believing and not seeing. It is only natural to have the “who-turned-the-lights-off” and “what-was-I-thinking-moment” in our journey. Peter had it. He was gung-ho jumping out of the boat to come to Jesus. But a few steps into it, he had an epiphany that revealed that he ran out of faith too soon. He began sinking. What happened? Jesus reached out and grabbed him. We will all experience such times when venturing off the short, dock or stepping out of the boat and walking by faith. Faith is illogical in the natural. It is uncomfortable to the flesh. If at any point in the process you dare to look down, it will absolutely suck the breath right out of you. God is ready to exceed all human expectations with His Excellent Love, Power and Providence for us.

As long as I live in this body, my faith in God will be tested. I will be given opportunity after opportunity to trust the Lord. I must surrender all of my life – heart, mind, soul and body to have all that He has planned and prepared for me including eternity. I cannot get tangled up in lies that are the foundation of excuses as to why I cannot or God will not but must live by confident faith in His Unfailing Love, Overwhelming Grace and Constant Care for me.

Hebrews 5:7-8 (NLT) While Jesus was here on earth, he offered prayers and pleadings, with a loud cry and tears, to the one who could rescue him from death. And God heard his prayers because of his deep reverence for God. Even though Jesus was God’s Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered.

Even though Jesus was God’s Son – he learned obedience through suffering. Jesus was God incarnate. He had every component of humanity. He had body. He had a mind. He had a pulsating heart. Jesus was a man. He did not lack any of the physical qualities that you and I have so when it came to suffering the pain of heartbreak and the brutality of his beatings then the cross. Jesus experienced it just as any other person. Yet He was still the Son of the Living God. God lived in Him. How are we different? God is exercising and conditioning our faith to endure the trials and hardships of life so that we will have confident hope that can obtain resurrection power and new life. He is not picking on you. You are not being left behind. There really is no excuse for our lack of persistence in following Jesus Christ. He endured the exact same things successfully to become our example.

Romans 5:1-5 (NLT) Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory. We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.  And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.

Jesus Christ said, “It is finished.” The Lord meant every single word of this three-word statement. He released His Spirit to live in us from that moment on. Romans 1:20 tells us that God has demonstrated His Love in perfect form so that no one has a good excuse not to know Him. Your past does not define your future. Your present condition doesn’t necessarily project your future. By faith, all of this is according to God’s Plan. He offers a future and hope that is accepted by faith not excuses. God speaks to guide us. Why aren’t we listening? He gives us His Word as a rod and staff to steady our way. To discipline our steps to avoid many pitfalls. Do we read it? He is ready to communicate 24/7 through prayer yet the door to our prayer closet remains closed. The Lord asks just one thing of us to be humble enough to love others – all others. We flatly refuse to give up our position of pride to love one another.

We have the Power of the Living God available to us by His Grace – yet we choose control over surrender every day. If life is immediately gratifying – an excuse is formed while we do it ourselves rather than waiting on the Lord. If hard times come, we exit. When it’s time to press, we rebel and pull back. God is God. He is the great I Am and perfectly able to do every single thing that He promised. He works best in the form of “even though” but we choose excuses instead abandoning ship to sail in other directions afraid to get our feet wet much less sink in the waves. No trust that He will catch us, excuses form a tower that becomes a prison. A place where His Promises cannot reach us.  A cell of simply not enough. Caught up by stress, anxiety, and worry – all the while Jesus is saying come to me. I will give you rest. Where is faith in your priorities today?

Ben Franklin said, “He that is good at making excuses is seldom good at anything else.” Friend that is a stinger. Lord, I don’t want to be that person. What has the Lord laid on your heart to do? Have you abandoned ship? Have you walked away? Do you think you have a good excuse? God doesn’t believe in excuses. He is moved by our faith. The times when “even though” everything is stacked against us and the situation is impossible – we dare to believe just one more day. Or even better, take one step closer to Him by faith that God will do it anyway. These situations, circumstances or conditions that we think will break us only make room for God’s Grace to flow through us. His Grace produces His Power in the place of our weakness and supernatural strength to keep following Him even when nothing is going “right” in our own eyes. As our faith flourishes in such conditions, the hope that anchors our soul becomes a little more secure. God has a purpose for each step. Especially the hard ones, taking in absolute faith with nothing in the natural to support them. These are the ones that release His Power the most in our life. Stop making excuses and pack faith in its place. Be the one who believes “even though”. Walk by faith not by sight. The best is yet to come for those who stop making excuses and step out in faith.

Hebrews 11:6 (NLT) And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him
