Now Faith

Now Faith

Psalm 130:5-6 (AMP) I wait [patiently] for the Lord, my soul [expectantly] waits, and in His word do I hope. My soul waits for the Lord; more than the watchmen for the morning; more than the watchmen for the morning.

What are you waiting for? Simply exhibiting patience to be still is evidence that what you hope for is important to you. I believe that measuring our willingness to wait on something establishes its importance. Impatience fuels the fire of indignation and douses doubt when it comes to things of lesser importance because we do not believe it. In my quiet time today, I was slipping in a few minutes after some morning chores before heading off to work. The current season is marked by change and transition which completely interrupts routine and habit. I woke up this morning wondering what day it is. Yet in just a few moments with three scriptures – my patience became instantly energized as hope was renewed.

I wait [patiently] for the Lord, my soul [expectantly] waits…

Hope requires two things – expectancy and patience. These are the key characteristics to fulfillment as faith requires a subject and that is what we hope for. If there is no validity to what is hoped for then the effort will be abandoned at the first sign of delay, disappointment or detour because the belief is not credible. The illogical nature of faith makes it very difficult to keep focused on that which is hoped for sometimes.

And in His word do I hope…

Hebrews 11:1 (AMP) Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses].

I do not subscribe to the “fake it until you make it” ideology. Faith it until you make it – yes! However, I find too often that in our haste to see God’s Promises they are forfeited altogether. Settling for less or accepting counterfeits aborts God’s Fulfillment in our life though offering immediate gratification. God produces fruit. He has a process in mind. Those who are His Disciples will bear fruit. A seed produces a plant buds into a blossom which one day will become fruit is an importance example of God’s Work in us. One must grow, develop and mature. Patience is characteristic of waiting. Expectancy is a sign of hope.

Now faith…

Hope waits for something and is defined by expectation. The Word of God is the substance of our faith. It is how to know an invisible God right now. He doesn’t lie or change His Mind. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. Now faith that is willing to wait expectantly with full assurance of the things hoped for and divinely guaranteed will always require some form of waiting. I need you to hear me today. As you stand in the mirror whispering, “God did I miss you? Where are you? What happened? What next?”, is it possible the Lord is saying to you – “You just need to wait a little longer with now faith.” See a promise born out of season is a miscarriage and one forced before its time is spiritual abortion. Our doing can actually be the undoing of God’s Work even when what we are doing seems like a good thing.

Psalm 138:8 (AMP) The Lord will accomplish that which concerns me; Your [unwavering] lovingkindness, O Lord, endures forever—do not abandon the works of Your own hands.

The Lord will do exactly as He has promised you. The Lord WILL accomplish, perfect and complete that which concerns me. The word “concern” implies not only my worries, cares and doubt but also that concerning me as defined by His Promises, Purpose, and Plan for me. God works both sides. He knows that humans struggle to have faith and hold on to hope. Hope in the Lord never leads to disappointment. It is my job to instruct my heart, mind and soul with the Word of God. I must discipline my flesh to wait even when it is uncomfortable, inconvenient and seemingly unproductive. Forcing a door open does not mean that what we desire will be on the other side – it is our privilege to wait on the Lord as He holds the door open for us so no one can shut it. We must learn to wait with great expectation for it is not a human quality or trait. In doing so, our life moves from natural consequences to supernatural experiences. Be encouraged today! The Lord has given you a measure of faith and NOW is the time to use it. Wait on the Lord. Remind your soul with the refreshing of the water of His Word. Invite the Holy Spirit to be your Helper. Worship! Praise and thanksgiving turn us from the have nots to the haves in life changing our perspective in an instant. Have now faith and you will find that your hope is secure!
