Jeremiah 31:3 (NIV) The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.

I am adored by God. I am His Beloved. I am. Whether I feel like it is even possible, it is the truth that surrounds me as the Lord begins to mold and shape me into who He created me to be. I wonder today how life might change if God’s People understood that He literally adores us. The word “adore” in Hebrew means to cherish, appreciate, treasure, hold dear and respect. God’s Love for us is not charitable as He sees our great worth rather than our impoverished soul. The Blood of Jesus drives our sin as far as the east is from the west. God works with the raw potential of our life now washed and clean ready for good use. As a gold miner digs through mounds of dirt, sends it through the wash pan removing loose sediment, and takes what is left refining it with fire until all that is left are bits of gold, God does the same for us because He sees us as His Treasure as demonstrated in His Word from Old Testament to New.

Everlasting love. Unfailing kindness. These are attributable to God’s Perspective not our own. I do not feel deserving of His Love or His Kindness. I know me. Every weakness, fault and failure including my sin so it makes it seem impossible that the Perfect God would love such an imperfect soul. It is easy to wallow in insecurity if our opinion of self is formed of our own opinion. It is only when looking into the mirror of God’s Word and His Work that the image of our true self and identity in Christ is revealed.

Zephaniah 3:17 (NIV) The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”

When our oldest son was serving a tour of duty in the Middle East, I wrote this verse on a notecard posting it to the refrigerator so I would remember to pray it over him every day. I could not check in on him as I had his whole life. To make sure that he was safe and secure. To call him. To talk with him and easy my worried heart. So I asked the Lord to sing over him. To go to him. To surround him with His Presence. To be his Mighty Warrior and surround and protect him on foreign ground with real enemies. God takes great delight in you just as parent does their child. He in love with you and totally captivated by you. He will stop at nothing to find you, save you, heal you, restore you, renew and revive you. You are worth it to God. He gave His Son’s life for your recovery. He sings over you with rejoicing because of His Everlasting Love and Unfailing Kindness. It has nothing to do with your best or worst. It is simply because you are you.

Romans 8:37-39 (NIV) No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

To believe that God adores us is challenging, I know. But the potential of embracing and living in the adoration that the Lord lavishes on us is life changing. It will change our self-image to see that we are created in His Image. It will change our insecurity into confidence. It will give substance to our hope. It will strengthen our faith. I can do nothing to earn or deserve God’s Love so the thought of His Adoration is inconceivable but true. If I can somehow convince myself that His Everlasting Love and Unfailing Kindness belong to me because He adores me – I will be confident in it and be more than a conqueror just because He does. God adores me. He adores you. Say that to yourself today. Repeat it until you believe it and are ready to receive it.
