This is Trust

This is Trust

Proverbs 3:5-7 (Amplified) Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways  know and acknowledge and recognize Him, and He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way]. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord [with reverent awe and obedience] and turn [entirely] away from evil.

Joyce Meyer reflects on Proverbs 3:5-6 like this – It “is basically a passage that encourages us to have faith in God and not in our own thinking or reasoning. People who must reason out everything have a hard time with faith because reasoning is not faith, and without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6).” I could not agree with her more. Trust is imperative to live a life of faith. Trusting God by faith is not accomplished with human reasoning. It is simply not logical. However, to have the relationship that the Lord intends for us and allow Him to transform our life with His Grace and Goodness – trust is absolutely vital. Faith is a necessity. The two must become the cords binding us to the Lord.

To fully trust and rely confidently on the Lord with ALL YOUR HEART is not always that easy. Our heart is driven by emotions and full of all these feelings. Some are not dangerous at all like love, joy and peace. These are fed and nourished by the Holy Spirit by partaking God’s Word. However, there are some feelings that are not good for us such as impatience, entitlement, meanness, bitterness, hurt, envy, fear, doubt, and other emotional detriments to our spiritual growth and development. We must learn to fully trust and rely CONFIDENTLY on the Lord with ALL YOUR HEART. Confidence is built. It is rooted and grounded in experience. The trying and testing of our faith fosters confidence in the Lord that cannot be birthed any other way. We must learn to take control of our emotions and examine our heart in order to remove those seeds that produce things not of God so that His Spirit can sow the seeds that will produce good fruit that feeds our soul.

Do not rely on your own insight or understanding.

Isaiah 1:18 (Amplified) “Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be like wool.

The Lord invites us to come now and reason together with Him. However, this is not exactly how most Christians go about the faith process. God’s Ways are not our ways. His Thoughts higher than our own. Yet with limited insight other than His Word and His Spirit which are often ignored believers try to walk on unfounded faith that leaves them frustrated. Why? It is human nature to try to evaluate spiritual things with natural thinking. It will not work. To justify the Word of God according to our sinful heart and swaying disposition leads to a church of debate rather than deliverance. It is common place for those who are sensitive to seek churches, pastors and gospels that are self-preserving and self-soothing rather than gut wrenching and life shattering.

My own insight is limited. My understanding of God so basic. Every time I open the Bible or read a passage – it seems there is something new that I never knew before. The Holy Spirit transforms our heart so it is receptive to God’s Word allowing seeds to be planted in the broken parts that will grow into the deliciousness of God’s Fruit that always has a way of producing something far greater than our minds could imagine or thoughts comprehend. I must learn to rely on God’s Insight for my life. I must rely on His Understanding especially when I cannot see the way. That’s faith. This is trust.

In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him.

I John 4:15-16 (Amplified) Whoever confesses and acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. We have come to know [by personal observation and experience], and have believed [with deep, consistent faith] the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides continually in him.

The word “acknowledge” means to admit to be real or true. To recognize the existence, truth or fact of. To show or express realization of. To know the authority of someone. To show or express appreciation or gratitude. To take notice and/or reply. There are many people who call themselves Christians who do not acknowledge the Lord in their everyday life. God is reserved for church. He is invited to participate in life on Sunday, Wednesday, and any fellowship opportunities. However, God is not allowed in our home, workplace or hobbies. Why? Human reasoning labels these as reality. God must become our reality. Acknowledging the partnership achieved by Christ engaged in by our prayer of salvation is only the beginning, our life must be aligned with God. Jesus is our Savior. Now it is up to us by faith and trust to make Him our Lord, too. This is the beginning of fruitfulness and productivity in our life.

To recognize the Lord in our life means one must understand EVERYTHING comes from Him. He never leaves us or forsakes us. Christ lives in us. To acknowledge what Christ has done for you is noble at best. It is the Truth. To recognize His Presence in us and around us is completely different. I must learn to look for the Lord in all things. I must learn to listen for His Voice in every choice. I must look for Him in each person. I must live for Him with each breath. That’s faith. This is trust.

He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way].

I can always tell the newbie at the car wash. When you pull up to the ATM-like machine, it says, “Please enter your membership.” However, if you do not have one then you must simply select your desired level of clean and slide your card. The gate arm raises and it says, “Please proceed to the wash.” He will make your paths straight and smooth. The Lord will remove obstacles that block your way. By aligning our life with God through His Son and by His Spirit, He gives us access to those things once elusive. It is through the process of faith and trust that the windows of Heaven are thrust open and the blessings come pouring out. Just like the gate and the car wash, once the transaction is successfully completed, the arm raises swiftly and the automobile gains access. God wants to give you access to every promise and blessing set aside for you. He wants to promote the purpose in you until it arises before you as destiny. This requires faith. Faith must have our trust. Finally…

Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord [with reverent awe and obedience] and turn [entirely] away from evil.

James 1:21-22 (Amplified)  So get rid of all uncleanness and all that remains of wickedness, and with a humble spirit receive the word [of God] which is implanted [actually rooted in your heart], which is able to save your souls. But prove yourselves doers of the word [actively and continually obeying God’s precepts], and not merely listeners [who hear the word but fail to internalize its meaning], deluding yourselves [by unsound reasoning contrary to the truth].

Micah 6:8 (NIV) He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

Believers are sabotaged by human reasoning every day. Logical thinking overtakes that which faith and trust in God are building in our heart. This life of faith is not a fairytale with a happy ending. It is not fiction. The facts of life are carefully detailed in God’s Word for our instruction – not our debate. It is up to us to switch our reliance from personal wisdom based on our experiences to fear the Lord with reverence, awe, and obedience every single day no matter where life takes us. We must turn entirely from evil and sin in order to fully engage in the process of faith which trusts God’s Way more than what we have come up with. The Lord really keeps it simple. To act justly. To love mercy. To walk humbly with Your God. He is making it personal in the third objective. Our relationship with the Father is 100% based on faith in His Son – Jesus Christ. Every promise and blessing on reserve for those who choose to trust the Lord and engage in a new relationship status. It’s not complicated. The Love of God makes you complete lacking no good thing.

Reasoning is not a bad thing. In fact, I highly encourage you to consider every Word written by the Hand of God called the Bible. I strongly suggest thinking about it, mulling it over, and discussing it with other believers. But first, come and reason with the Father. Talk it other with Him first. Think through it with the Spirit. Learn to have faith when it seems ridiculous. You will never find it to be logical but completely worth it. Stop overthinking and let the Lord interject. He has a Plan. It’s a good one. He has a purpose for you which begins with prospering you. God loves you. He is always good! His Goodness is pursuing you. All you must do is have faith and trust.
