Ephesians 3:20 (Amplified) Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us…
The truth in this statement found in scripture given to us by God will profoundly and dramatically change the life of those who dare to receive it. I love when God puts His Goodness on blast! When He does exactly what He promises to do yet still I am blown away that He does. Oh thee (or me) of such little faith who serves a superabundant God. I must find my way from mediocrity to miraculous. The journey is short but long lived. What if this is absolutely true? What if I dare to receive this verse from outside of my need, wants and desires to fully embrace the possibility that God really is able to do superabundantly more than all that I dare to ask or think? Not some more but infinitely beyond my greatest prayers, hopes or dreams? According to His Power already in me and working its way through me…what if superabundance is in me but I am keeping it from being expressed in my life?
2 Kings 4:1-6 (NIV) The wife of a man from the company of the prophets cried out to Elisha, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that he revered the Lord. But now his creditor is coming to take my two boys as his slaves.” Elisha replied to her, “How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?” “Your servant has nothing there at all,” she said, “except a small jar of olive oil.” Elisha said, “Go around and ask all your neighbors for empty jars. Don’t ask for just a few. Then go inside and shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour oil into all the jars, and as each is filled, put it to one side.” She left him and shut the door behind her and her sons. They brought the jars to her and she kept pouring. When all the jars were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another one.” But he replied, “There is not a jar left.” Then the oil stopped flowing.
Let’s not get crazy here. I am not a blab-it-and-grab-it kind of girl. HOWEVER, I believe that if God said it – He meant it – I must go find it. Her husband was a prophet. She served the Lord as well. Her husband died. She was in desperate financial despair. She needed money. She needed a miracle. She needed it quick before the creditor came to take her sons into slavery. She went to Elisha. He asked first, “How can I help you?” And then the words that change everything, “Tell me, what do you have in your house?” Now the woman did not have a hidden treasure chest or even a pearl of great price. She found a small jar of olive oil. Oh the anointing of God hidden within us and around us in plain sight but overlooked so often. How many times is it human nature to look for a natural method when God uses supernatural means? Why is it so difficult to know and understand that it takes the impossible to produce a miracle? God doesn’t want to give you food, stuff, money or the world…no friend, He wants to give you the Kingdom.
Psalm 2:7-8 (NIV) I will proclaim the Lord’s decree: He said to me, “You are my son; today I have become your father. Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.
The woman did not run out of oil until she ran out of jars. What if this is true for each of us? Are we providing a vessel for God to pour out His Goodness into? All of it. You cannot put new wine in old wineskins or they will surely burst. What if the limit on your life is self-imposed? God is poised ready to open the windows of Heaven in response to your faith but you are just not in the mindset to receive it. Moving the boundaries of faith out a little farther is a much greater stretch then it is for the Lord to fill out territory with His Kingdom and all it has in store for us. He has already decreed His Will for us. He has defined and outlined His Plan and Purpose. Our investment is faith and trust that opens our heart and mind to the endless possibilities of a supernatural God who wants to release superabundance to us.
Are you ready for all of God’s Goodness to overtake you? Do you believe that there is more to life than this? Do you ask anymore? Do you dream? God is ready to do infinitely more than we can pray, hope and dream. We must be the vessel ready to receive it by faith. Declare His Goodness over your life today. Find the blessings in His Word and choose to receive them. He is for you. He fights for you. The Lord is with you! Lord show me the areas of my life restricted by fear and doubt. May faith be the light that shatters the darkness giving way to new life! A superabundant life just as you promised. I receive it today in Jesus Name!
