Gifted

Gifted

Romans 12:6-8 (NLT) In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.

Being blessed with five children, I have had the pleasure of watching five individuals grow and mature into the unique creations that God has entrusted me to nurture. In the early days, I celebrated just keeping every fed and alive. It was a complete victory if the house was somewhat clean and I managed a shower with a smidge of makeup. However, as time passed, the little bundles of joy turned tiny tyrants began to blossom into young people with strength and talents all their own. I have five very distinct individuals who though may have some similarities are completely unique by God’s Design. He creates humans on purpose. Each life has meaning and a place in His Kingdom whether the heart beats for moments or the 70 or so years promised by the Word of God. It is with this idea and through experience that I completely assure you that you are unique in design with a plan all your own and purpose that no one else can fulfill. Just as my five are all different yet hold a special place in our family, it is the same with all of us according to God and His Kingdom. Friend, whether you know it or not, you are gifted.

In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well.

Our life is often defined by experience. The hopes and dreams of our childhood in rancid tombs marked regret and remorse. With one fatal error, a shot is directed at our heart that kills the fabulous “what if” placed there by our Father, Creator of all. He gave you an idea or inspiration that would lead to a productivity in our life that would prosper us. However, due to our mistakes and failures it was buried by human thoughts called doubt and insecurity that made what seemed possible – impossible for us. I invite you to the Cross today but only for a moment. To wash our hands and hearts in the Blood of Jesus. Allow Him to wash away all fear, doubt and insecurity because in perfect love it simply does not exist. Now follow me to the empty tomb, every fault and failure dealt with sufficiently because His Grace is enough. This is the place of endless possibility – Jesus arose victoriously handing us the keys to His Kingdom. Read the passage again, your gifts are not a product of you but “in His Grace” that they come alive again.

Romans 12:1-2 (NLT) And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.  Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Created in the likeness of God – the Creator – you have unique abilities, talents and giftings that no one else possesses or at least in the same measure. He creates masterpieces – not cheap replications. You are the only you. I am the only me. No need for comparison. Each one made with ideas, inspirations and imaginations completed infused with creativity. What we do with that is completely up to us. We are free to choose. There is complete liberty in Christ. Could it be that the problem is not in our creation at all? What if creativity and gifting is already conceived in us but the problem is in getting it out of us? What’s the holdup? What keeps us stagnant in poverty and lack?

It is not by coincidence that Romans 12 starts with these two verses. The keys to success in unlocking divine potential and living a Kingdom life. The first is commitment. You can only reside in one country. The other is considered a dwelling but not your primary residence. So if you are blessed with multiple properties – you can only live in one place at a time. We must decide to live in the Presence and Shadow of God every day of our life. To take Jesus out of the church and into our home, school, workplace or hobbies. To live a life in the image of God as a creative work means to be the unique and gifted individual you are designed to be. This means stepping out of regret. Walking away from failure. Deciding to yoke your life to Jesus and walk it out to completion. It is a commitment to live on purpose This is worship.

Finally, to live a gifted life is a mindset. We must allow His Spirit to change our stinking thinking. To bind and cast back the lie of the enemy and get wrapped up in the impossible. All those hopes and dreams buried in doubt and fear must be resurrected by the Power of Christ. You are gifted. The Word of God says so. It is given to us by grace so our mistakes cannot every do anything to change who we are in Christ. It is up to us to live like God’s Children. To believe in His Word and allow His Spirit to release our full potential. The Lord must change our mind. Every doubt and fear must be taken captive and dealt with severely until all roots of insecurity are gone. You have a purpose. God made you with a plan. You are gifted in many ways. He has good gifts for you that will produce a rich and satisfying life. As your soul prospers, so will you!
