Isaiah 43:19 (AMP) “Listen carefully, I am about to do a new thing, now it will spring forth; will you not be aware of it? I will even put a road in the wilderness, rivers in the desert.”
Has a scripture ever jumped off the page at you before or in this case the glowing screen? Looking around the room breathless and reading it again, “God, are you talking to me?” When it happens, I am filled with awe and hopefulness that my Lord who knows my coming and going, faults and failures, and every single word in the thought that it was formed – STILL loves me enough to have His Spirit and tap me on the shoulder to pay attention to the proverbial “Verse of the Day.” I feel full of expectation in knowing that though I think I miss it most of the time that there are some times when I muster enough sense to recognize the still small whisper challenging me to more faith and greater expectation.
I have shared that I believe the word for this season is “stillness” but not immobility. To hush our life and stop moving frantically to hear what the Lord is saying and be careful to do just that. Deer season just ended. We live in a rural community so early in the morning the barking dogs could be heard all around us searching to root out a buck for the happy hunter to overcome. I wonder if the enemy does not maintain open season seeking out the Good Shepherd’s sheep. Sending fangless foes to bark out all the lies that cause us to stumble and fall as they pursue us. Fear, doubt, worry, anxiety and stress. Hurt, betrayal and offense causing bitter roots to trip us up. Unmet expectations placed on others rather than the Living God that have become our focus rather than relishing in the lavish Love of God that cares for us each and every day with provision, protection and blessings taken completely for granted. Now that deer hunting season is over – the mornings are still and silent once more. God will calm the storms in us to allow us to hear the rushing wind of change that is coming over us. We must learn to embrace the moments of not doing so that the undoing will produce the greater thing that is to come.
Proverbs 1:5 (AMP) The wise will hear and increase their learning, And the person of understanding will acquire wise counsel and the skill [to steer his course wisely and lead others to the truth]…
Psalm 63:1 (NKJV) O God, You are my God; early will I seek You; my soul thirsts for You; my flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water.
We must feed our soul every day. Taking the Word of God to increase our appetite for the Lord and His Promises. Why? Life is full of voices. They each have their own tone and dialect projecting a message. If we do not taste and see that the Lord is good – it is possible to know what He says but never hear His Voice. Intimacy is established in whispers – the still small voice breathing on us and penetrating our heart and mind with the Love and Goodness affirming us by the Living God who still seeks to live in a relationship with depraved wretches like me. We must learn to stop talking and start listening. As a young person, I remember an adult leader telling us that the Lord gave us two ears and one mouth so that must mean something. Listening will indeed impact the words spoken. To think and process what we hear and evaluate the integrity of its truth needs a comparison. Faith comes by hearing. Hearing the Word of God. We must learn to listen even if it makes us uncomfortable. We must know what God says. He will never tell us to do or believe anything that is contrary to His Word. In this world of noise, even good intended teachers and preachers, the fully equipped Christian knows the Word and hears the Voice of God to determine the validity of each person allowed to speak in their life. (John 10:3-5)
“I am about to do a new thing”…
Isaiah 42:8 (AMP) “I am the Lord, that is My Name; My glory I will not give to another,
nor My praise to carved idols.
The creative power of our Life Giving, New Creation God is working in us and through us to do the new thing that He promised us. Why? Read Isaiah 43:1-7. God loves us. He is for us. He calls us “precious” in His Sight. He has every intention to release all of His Goodness to us that will be for His Glory. Romans 8:28 tells us that all things work together for the good even all those terrible mistakes and complete failures – the Lord will pick up all the broken pieces making a beautiful masterpiece. (Ephesians 2) The struggle in this particular passage is that it is not contingent on anything I do or do not do. The Lord says, “I AM” about to do a new thing. It is out of our control. It is not by our design. It defies our flesh. It kills our pride. It will be for His Glory not our own. We are just the blessed recipients of His Overwhelming Goodness and Unprecedented Favor. Sometimes it is important to stop doing everything you think necessary, quit trying to work the God Plan so hard as to squeeze something out of Heaven. Obedience is sacrificing our way to fully embrace His Plan and Purpose by His Grace. His Grace works best in our weakness and releases His Power in our life.
“Now it will spring forth”
Mark 13:35-37 (AMP) Therefore, be continually on the alert—for you do not know when the master of the house is coming, whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning—[stay alert,] in case he should come suddenly and unexpectedly and find you asleep and unprepared. What I say to you I say to everyone, ‘Be on the alert [stay awake and be continually cautious]!’”
Some miracles take a long time and others happen in an instant, it is important to be on the lookout and stay alert for the move of God that you are anticipating. God is a God of suddenlies and unexpectedlies. We set timelines, schedules, routines and priorities. The Lord says to you today that if you make Him your full expectation that He will wreck your life with His Goodness. It is possible to stifle the move of God and stop His Promises by exempting ourselves to our own expectation. God is desperately trying to give you His Promise and help you reach your full potential by His Plan that will fully satisfy your body, soul and spirit completely lacking no good thing BUT we decide how He will move, when He will do it and what it look like accepting nothing less than our way. Oh Lord Jesus, spring forth in us today with Your Goodness and gracefully move us out of the way. May we all say in unison – Not my will but Your Will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.
“Will you not be aware of it? I will even put a road in the wilderness, rivers in the desert.”
Isaiah 55:8-11 (AMP) “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts higher than your thoughts. For as the rain and snow come down from heaven, and do not return there without watering the earth,
making it bear and sprout, and providing seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so will My word be which goes out of My mouth; it will not return to Me void (useless, without result), without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.
I really have no clue what the “new thing” that the Lord has promised for me will be. I am okay with that today. He has never once let me down. The Lord is faithful. He has proven that He is good. However, when the season stills and His Voice seems to hush to a whisper, it is important to stay focused. God will do exactly as He promised at the precise time that He planned. He doesn’t delay. He is not weak or weary. God is awesome! His Promise is true. His Plan is perfect. We must latch on to His Thoughts as outlined in His Word. We must strive to follow His Voice as He leads the way from victory to victory and glory to glory. Ignoring our feelings, circumstances and current conditions knowing and believing that all is subject to change in Jesus Name. It’s not easy to overcome our flesh and walk by faith. It will always be worth it. Stay focused today. Keep your face down in prayer and your head wrapped in the Word of God. Avoid worthless distractions. Ignore the enemy’s advances. Stop talking and start listening. He will speak to those who do and breathe new life in you!
