Bound to Happen

Bound to Happen

Deuteronomy 30:8-10 (NKJV) And you will again obey the voice of the Lord and do all His commandments which I command you today. The Lord your God will make you abound in all the work of your hand, in the fruit of your body, in the increase of your livestock, and in the produce of your land for good. For the Lord will again rejoice over you for good as He rejoiced over your fathers, if you obey the voice of the Lord your God, to keep His commandments and His statutes which are written in this Book of the Law, and if you turn to the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

Oh my goodness! I generally get a jump on housework on Thursday. Beginning with bathrooms first, and working my way through some of the chores. I generally slide into the chair for some quiet time but haven’t been sharing much. Well…not today. The Word of the Lord was just too strong. His Presence too real. His Provocation way too overwhelming to not share this nugget of truth with you today. God is encouraging us today so that He can abound us. The prickly words of “obey” or “obedience and to “do” ALL of His Commandments tend to poke us in our pride and bring great objection from our flesh who thinks it compromise our freedom or limits our liberty. However, the connected promise is just too good not to consider these otherwise offensive words.

The Lord Your God will make you abound in…

Before moving on, let’s focus on the word “abound” for a moment. Jesus came to give us a rich and satisfying life. His Work is to complete us so that there is nothing lacking. All words of truth from the Word. The word “abound” means to create quantities and numbers. It means to be rich and well supplied. It signifies fulfillment or to be filled. In the Latin root, it mean to overflow. This is God’s Intention for the lives of His Children. It is not in one area of life but all areas of living. Obedience is an act of trust. Doing is our intentional motivation of service. When we trust the Lord’s Promise – we will do what He says. And then…

The Lord Your God will make you abound in the work of your hand…

It is time to stop working harder and work smarter. God is interested in every area of your life not just your Christian life. He is with you in the workplace. You are a marketplace minister. The Will of God is for you to influence and affluence so people will experience generosity and goodness that is uncommon in the professional arena. He wants your dream jobs to become the reality of your testimony to others. He wants you to grow up other leaders to do the same and be disciples in the world of work. Not only that you will invest and that will grow all because you belong to a Kingdom of multiplication. It begins by obeying God and doing His Word.

The Lord Your God will make you abound in fruit of your body…

The fruit of your body most often is our children. God will make your heritage strong allowing us to leave a legacy behind and inheritance for our children and grandchildren. I also believe that this is the health and long life of our natural body as well. If you are always sick and weak, it doesn’t necessarily imply that you are well-cared for now does it. Our spirit will rise in every affliction through trust and obedience. Tested faith becomes iron clad confidence that allows us to look above for support in sickness rather than leaning on the sympathy of others. God is a healer. He is a deliverer. Always. I would be remiss not to mention though that as believers it is our responsibility to take good care of the Temple. The Holy Spirit is housed in us and Christ lives in us. How’s the housekeeping? Our body, mind, spirit and soul must align with God’s Word in every way conceivable to experience all the possibilities of faith and obedience. It is the constant turning of more and more real estate of our existence to ownership of the Lord. Breath by breath. Minute by minute. Day by day until I have is yours, Jesus!

The Lord Your God will make you abound in the increase of your livestock…

I am no farmer. In fact, I cannot keep houseplants alive. I am just holding my own keeping the two dogs I have in good health. God is the God of Increase. Multiplicative and exponential increase. Whatever the currency of your life may be it should be increasing due to your partnership with Christ. Trouble is how we perceive it sometimes. God doesn’t put checks in the mailbox. He can give us unprecedented favor in unthinkable ways just to keep the enemy guessing and devourer at bay. Friend, I promise that if you begin to partner with Christ in every endeavor you will experience increase. He is bound by His Word to make you abound and increase in the productivity of your life.

The Lord Your God will make you abound in the produce of your land…

You occupy a place and position in life. It may not be of your choosing or liking just ask Joseph and I am sure he completely understands. There is a progression in seasons that begins with sowing. What are you sowing in the soil of your season today? God will make it abound. You will reap what you sow. It is important to examine what is being cultivated in our life. If you do not like the fruit, it is not the tree’s fault but the farmer. In other words, you will only harvest what you invested in the ground. Scarier still is that it will abound according to God’s Faithfulness so hopefully you like the fruit.

What does all this mean? Obedience to God through faith and trust in His Written and Spoken Word manifesting in doing all that He asks will make your life abound. It is bound to happen. God is bound by His Word. He doesn’t lie or change His Mind. He doesn’t lie to us. He never gets fed up with us or throw the towel in at our stubbornness. He pursues us with unfailing love and overwhelming goodness waiting for us to stop and turnaround. That’s all repentance really is turning from our way to fully embrace the Way!

For the Lord will again rejoice over you for good as He rejoiced over your fathers, if you obey the voice of the Lord your God, to keep His commandments and His statutes which are written in this Book of the Law, and if you turn to the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

Oh how God loves us and desires to bless us. He longs to prosper us as our soul prospers. Loving Jesus means doing what He says. Oh come on! What other relationship is successful in the midst of rejection, rebellion, stubbornness or blatant disregard? My husband and I have made it almost twenty years by yielding our way to walk together with Jesus through this thing called life and marriage. It has been a fight. It has been a lot of hard work and humility. Tons of grace and forgiveness. It has been a wonderful journey. God will do what He says He will do. We must only love and trust Him enough to do what He says. That’s faith. Plain and simple. Do it and all these things are bound to happen.
