Matthew 6:30-33 (NKJV) Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
If my body was as active as my brain, I would be a bone thin supermodel. It is constantly moving and spinning all day long and through the night sometimes. Our brain is, by design, motivated and moved by our flesh. The command center that keeps our body working including all involuntary organ reflexes such as telling our heart to beat and lungs to breathe. Our mind is subject to our feelings as well. The brain will begin to show sign of distress based on the perception of one of the five senses. Worry is a voluntary reflex based on circumstances or conditions. It is formed by situational perceptions and sometimes public opinion. It takes a great deal of conditioning to bring our thoughts into subjection to the Word of God and follow His Way. However, to the do the Will of God our mind, will and emotions must be held in check to God’s Written and Spoken Word to live a spiritually successful life. It is important to continually exercise faith that will allow us to remain confident in Christ.
Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
Worry is like stepping in an ant pile. At first, you may not notice. Or maybe you do and begin to wipe off an insect or two before noticing that you are covered in them. Sometimes stepping on the mound unnoticed and standing there a minute, the bites of the furious homeowners rouse you to attention and chaos ensues. If we do not stop worry from the onset, it will cause a chain reaction that completely destroys peace and confidence in Christ. Worry is displaced faith. Faith put in conditions, circumstances or consequences rather than given to Jesus. Worry is simply daily cares held on to rather than surrendered to the Lord. Sowing faith in Jesus is an active participation in taking our worries, cares and burdens and giving them to Him completely. It is to trust Him more.
For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Let’s take a step out of our present situation. Maybe to take a step up and stand by the Lord looking down. The world is completely under His Authority and Power. Those who come to Christ are in the palm of His Hand and nothing can pluck us from His Hand. He is waiting for something before finally destroying the enemy. He is waiting on us. Jesus is lovingly, patiently, and gently waiting for us to put just a tiny bit of faith in Him. Gentiles are seeking something on the earth that can only be found in Heaven. Chasing fame and fortune to soothe the vast void in their heart by an eternity that are desperate to find. We have a destiny. A divine future and complete Kingdom that lacks no good thing. In fact, there is an inheritance for us in the Kingdom just waiting for us to connect with the Kingdom. We run in circles of our own design yet firmly and gently held by the Master who waits for us to stop moving from doubt to worry to fear and begin to rest in confident faith that He who has promised is faithful.
I am only human. I have the potential to live a supernatural life full of God’s Glory and Power but I as long as I live and breathe – I am only human. I must seek the Kingdom of God daily which means surrendering my cares, worries and burdens to Jesus. Completely. Even those small and insignificant details. Especially those future concerns that try to steal precious moments from today. It is human nature to worry and fear. This world comes with full media coverage and even enhancement to keep people on edge. Evil appears to be prevailing. God is being pushed out. Love has grown cold. Sin is rampant. Everything is going according to God’s Plan and soon Jesus will come to carry us home. In the meantime, I must daily strive to keep my eyes on Jesus. To pursue the Kingdom and His Righteousness even in the smallest detail. God is good. He is always Good. He is for me. His Love set on me. His Eyes never leave me. His Presence is always with me. I must only learn to exercise my faith and trust Him a little more each day. (I Timothy 4:8) This is now we transfer from living a life wrapped in worry and fear held by doubt to the fully satisfying life Jesus died and rose again to have to us!
