Unfailing

Unfailing

Psalm 33:21-22 (NLT)

In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. Let your unfailing love surround us, Lord, for our hope is in you alone.

I am overtaken today by the concept of unfailing love. Not sure why it is so real and evident to me in this moment of transition and change as my life is completely being rearranged. My emotions have been like waves against the shore in and out, up and down completely out of sorts at least the ocean has tides. But for some reason this morning, I am acutely aware as I try to reorganize and reprioritize my life and schedule to fit my new way of work and opportunities that I am surrounded by His Unfailing Love.

I looked up the word “unfailing” to see exactly what it meant. I think we should examine our faith and God’s Word more intellectually sometimes to get the true meaning. This is how we discover all the wonderful benefits and blessings tucked away and hidden for us to find. The word “unfailing” means not failing, not giving way, not falling short of expectation, completely dependable, inexhaustible and endless. Whoa! God’s Love for me is all these things. The foundation and basis of my total trust and absolute faith in Jesus Christ is simply and completely all about His Unfailing Love for me. There is no room or expectation for me to do anything because in and of itself it is complete. Try to wrap your brain around it. It really is incomprehensible that anyone or anything especially a perfect and all-knowing God could love anyone has inconsistent and pathetic as me in such a way.

Psalm 23:6 (NLT)

Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.

God’s Goodness and Unfailing Love pursue me every single day. Do you believe that? Do you believe that God is doing everything and anything that He can possibly do to overtake you with His Goodness and Love? And that they pursuit is relentless – no matter where you are, how far you wander, how low you fall or how bad you blow it that God the Creator of the Universe is STILL pursuing you with love that is not failing, not giving way, not falling short of expectation, completely dependable, inexhaustible and endless. If we could truly grasp and completely believe that God loves us like this it would change our entire life both now and forever. There are days when I forget…probably more than I remember since it has taken me by total surprise all over again. God’s Goodness and His Favor have nothing to do with my ability to do anything at all other than accept His Unfailing Love. I don’t even think I can shout at this moment but just sit in awe of so much love and affection for such an undeserving person as me.

Deuteronomy 30:19-20 (NLT)

“Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live! You can make this choice by loving the Lord your God, obeying him, and committing yourself firmly to him. This is the key to your life…”

Life is filled with choices. You have probably already made several today. The first was getting out of bed and so on. People put too much weight and expectation on our decisions. For example, it takes my husband and I an hour to decide where to eat when choosing a restaurant. Why is it so hard? And that is just for a single meal. However, the only choice that we are required to make that determines the outcome of all other scenarios is whether or not we choose to love God, obey Him and remain committed firmly to Him. In doing so, our life is filled with life and blessing in every choice we make no matter whether they are right or wrong. God’s Love is working it all together for His Good just because we choose to accept His Love by loving Him back. This is above and by far a game changer when you think about it. We love God and try to make good choices. But if we would take the time, consideration and effort we put into making better choices into choosing to love God with all our heart, mind, soul and body it would impact every other choice and potential outcome in our life. The key to life is God’s Unfailing Love. (Period)

Psalm 42:8 (NLT)

But each day the Lord pours his unfailing love upon me, and through each night I sing his songs, praying to God who gives me life.

Every day God pours His Unfailing Love on me. Every day – the good ones and the not so good ones. The days I do great and the ones when I blow it. His Love for me is unconditional. Unconditional means without conditions or limitations. His Love is there for me no matter what. The only thing left for me to decide is if I am going to take it or not. Oh, I am taking it all in today.

Psalm 25:8-10 (NLT)

The Lord is good and does what is right; He shows the proper path to those who go astray. He leads the humble in doing right, teaching them his way. The Lord leads with unfailing love and faithfulness all who keep his covenant and obey his demands.

God leads us with the same unfailing and unconditional love. When we begin to trust in His Love, we find out that He is not trying to make our life miserable with a lot of rules and regulations. He is not trying to make us do everything His Way on some power trip like a fierce game of “Mother May I”, but rather He is desperately trying to bless and prosper us so we will have all the good and great things that He has promised. Everything the Lord does is good – love makes us trust Him in that when we don’t see it. What He does is always right – which means we can never go wrong when we go with God. He is teaching us how to live in blessing and prosperity every day not because we can do it but because He will if we just trust His Unfailing Love enough to follow Him.

Psalm 21:3-7 (NLT)

You welcomed him back with success and prosperity. You placed a crown of finest gold on his head. He asked you to preserve his life, and you granted his request. The days of his life stretch on forever. Your victory brings him great honor, and you have clothed him with splendor and majesty. You have endowed him with eternal blessings and given him the joy of your presence. For the king trusts in the Lord. The unfailing love of the Most High will keep him from stumbling.

This psalm was written by King David. David did not become king because he was perfect. He messed up a lot. He was an adulterer. He was a murderer. He sinned against God. But God forgave David. David was after God’s Heart. He wanted God to love him with unfailing love. It doesn’t matter what you have done or do that is considered to be a sin against God. The Blood of Jesus is enough to cover every single one. His Grace is enough for you. His Unfailing Love is not failing, not giving way, not falling short of expectation, completely dependable, inexhaustible and endless. Anyone who comes to know, understand and live by this truth will discover a new life in Jesus Christ like never before. To trust in His Love changes everything because it is unfailing. It is a constant in our life probably the only thing that will never change.

Thank you Lord for reminding me of this today as I close one chapter and prepare for the new. Help me to step out of the past into the future with full confidence that Your Love for me is just as abundant there as it has been before. You love me. That changes everything. You have always loved me. You will always love me. Your love for me is unfailing…

Psalm 13:5-6 (NLT)

But I trust in your unfailing love. I will rejoice because you have rescued me. I will sing to the Lord because he is good to me.
