And this is why I am suffering as I do. Still I am not ashamed, for I know (perceive, have knowledge of, and am acquainted with) Him Whom I have believed (adhered to and trusted in and relied on), and I am [positively] persuaded that He is able to guard and keep that which has been entrusted to me and which I have committed [to Him] until that day.
I am persuaded. I am persuaded that God is able without a doubt to do the things that He has promised and guard each word He has spoken over my life. Or am I? To be persuaded means that the urgency of God is driving me in the direction of His Way. His Word will induce obedience in those who are fully persuaded. His Voice will prevail in the life of one who is confident in the One whom they trust. Persuasion moves one in the direction of truth and fortifies against what is false. It is the basis of truth that bears the greatest impact. Has God caused you to believe in who He is? Has Jesus Christ convinced you that He is Your Savior? Does your belief in God prevail in the midst of uncertainty and the decisions of life? Are you persuaded? Yes, everyone believes something. All Christians would like to believe that they are convinced that God is able. But what happens when the trials come? What is the first response when put to the test or questioned about your faith? Does it hold true to the test or does it waver under pressure? Today Lord, I want faith that persuades me.
With persuasion, there is movement. Belief can be an idea or opinion. It is the beginning of conviction as we grab hold of a notion and claim it as the truth. However, when one becomes persuaded then they move in the direction of what they believe and begin to test it. Trying God is not a bad thing at all. In fact, God urges you to do so. Psalm 34:8 says, “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good.” Malachi 3:10 again God invites us to test His Ways, “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse that there may be food in My house and try Me now in this,” says the LORD of hosts. God wants a chance to prove His Love for you today. The Lord wants you to experience His Urgency and allow it to pull you tightly into His Arms and wrap you in faith that will keep you there. To say that you believe in God, yet to never make a move toward God is to live a lie.
The Children of Israel were being persuaded as Moses led them from Egypt in pursuit of the Promised Land. Yes, God wanted to bless His Children but more than that God desired a thriving relationship with them. An entire generation would never enter into that which they labored to find due to their lack of belief. Persuasion is movement with a purpose. I cannot persuade you to accept what I believe to be true if I am not convinced myself. Moses believed in God. He was not afraid to move into God’s Presence. Fear of death could not keep Him from experiencing God’s Glory. His Faith led the people to the edge of the Promise but it was not enough to take them into God’s Promise. Your praise and worship leader can lead you to the edge of His Presence, your pastor can lay a firm foundation of the Word of God for you to step into God’s Promise and God’s Spirit Living in you can nudge you toward confidence in God but until you become fully persuaded and step into God’s Presence, Promise and Purpose for yourself then you will not experience all that God has promised. One must be fully persuaded to experience God’s Promises.
Perception is ruled by the principles of persuasion and defined by that which we are confident of. It is how we view life. As the Lord orders the details of life in an attempt to usher you into His Kingdom and His Presence, faith must become the foundation of our perception. Like contact lenses or eyeglasses, we must view everything through our faith to get a clear image of what God has purposed. It is with such clarity that we become fully persuaded. No longer do the circumstances that we face define us but are simply things we go through to get to His Glory. Full confidence and being completely persuaded means that when it comes to the world we are immovable but when it comes to God we are constantly flexible. Faith becomes the force that we are moved by and everything else is of no effect. Oh God, how I long to be persuaded today.
John 17:20-23 (Amplified)
Neither for these alone do I pray [it is not for their sake only that I make this request], but also for all those who will ever come to believe in (trust in, cling to, rely on) Me through their word and teaching that they all may be one, [just] as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be one in Us, so that the world may believe and be convinced that You have sent Me. I have given to them the glory and honor which You have given Me, that they may be one even] as We are one: I in them and You in Me, in order that they may become one and perfectly united, that the world may know and [definitely] recognize that You sent Me and that You have loved them [even] as You have loved Me.
God is working to convince you today! He longs for you to be fully persuaded. Jesus prayed that not only His Followers then but that anyone who would ever believe in Him would be convinced of Who He Was and the One Who sent Him. There is unity in being persuaded. God longs to join His People in faith through Jesus Christ so that the Body of Christ is drawn together and fully persuaded by His Great Love. What will it take to fully persuade you? What will create urgency in your soul for God? What will ignite passion in your heart for your beloved? God will do whatever it takes to convince you of His Love for you. He will do whatever is necessary to overtake your life with His Grace and Mercy. God is convinced of His Love for you and it has created such an overwhelming urgency that He will stop at nothing to persuade you today. Look at your life through faith in God today and be persuaded by His Love. Get close to Jesus today and cling to Him. Make your connection so close that nothing can get between you and the Father’s Love for you. He is right there. It is your move. Be persuaded.
Romans 8:37-39 (NKJV)
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
